The Yellowstone chef has recently revealed some interesting behind-the-scenes information about Kevin Costner, portraying him as a discerning eater. In addition, the chef shared details about Costner's favorite and least favorite meals. However, Costner's journey on the show has not been without complications, as there have been rumors of conflicts between him and creator Taylor Sheridan.
Although not officially confirmed yet, it is understood that Costner will be leaving the Yellowstone series to concentrate on his own western project, Horizon: An American Saga. Furthermore, the main series is expected to conclude after Season 5, with only Part 2 remaining before bidding farewell to the present Dutton ranch for good.
However, there is no need to worry as the Yellowstone world will continue to exist through its various spin-offs. Nevertheless, some fans express their disappointment at Costner's departure from the project, considering how impeccably he fits the role, even sharing the same eating habits.
Yellowstone chef says Kevin Costner is a “picky eater”
Gabriel "Gator" Guilbeau, known for his portrayal of Gator the chef in the popular TV show Yellowstone, has unveiled an interesting tidbit about Kevin Costner. It turns out that Costner, much like his character John Dutton, happens to be a discerning eater.
In a video by Delish, Gator demonstrates how to make a delightful bourbon bread pudding that happens to be a personal favorite of Costner's. As he prepares the dessert, Gator takes the opportunity to discuss the actor's food preferences.
He mentions that this specific dish is valuable to him while filming on the set of Yellowstone, stating that it is challenging to cater to Kevin Costner's preferences because he prefers simple ingredients and recipes like bread pudding.
Interestingly, it turns out that Gator, the actor, has more in common with Mr. Dutton than previously believed. Gator discloses that Costner's reaction to a large grilled octopus in a scene from Yellowstone mirrored his actual dislike for such food.
"Kevin is an extremely selective eater, and there is absolutely no chance that he would ever consume an actual octopus," Gator remarks.
He adds, "I placed the octopus in front of Kevin without him having any prior knowledge about it. Consequently, I presented this large ocean-dwelling spider in front of the unfortunate Kevin Costner."
"He regarded me with a childlike expression, as though I had accidentally harmed his beloved pet or snatched away his sweet treat. The look he gave me was an authentic reaction, reminiscent of the incredulous gaze often captured on the show 'Gator, what on earth is that?'"
When John Dutton inquiries about it in the particular scene, Beth responds, "It's the Mediterranean diet, daddy."
Gator explains that it was quite a challenge for him to introduce a "Mediterranean diet" to this man, who, he believes, likely survived on canned chili and hot dogs before meeting him. Don't miss our other Yellowstone coverage!
