In January 2024, K-drama fans were thrilled as Netflix released Gyeongseong Creature Part 2, leaving the door open for a confirmed Season 2. However, fans are eagerly awaiting news of a release date. With Netflix's strong hold on the global popularity of K-dramas, it has heavily invested in original storylines, such as Gyeongseong Creature, which was announced for Season 2 even before its official premiere on the platform.
Only a handful of K-dramas have been granted early approval, and Sweet Home is one of them, with the renewal of its second and third seasons happening at the same time. The finale of Gyeongseong Creature left fans hanging on a worthwhile cliffhanger, promising that the story is far from over. Following the release of Part 2 on January 5, 2024, Netflix confirmed that the main characters will make a return in a modern-day Korea. The big question now is – when will Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 be released? Warning: Spoilers ahead!
Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 release date
There’s no official release date for Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 from Netflix but it is speculated to premiere in 2024.
Netflix's Tudum has announced that Season 2 of the series will explore new territory. The first-look photos for the season feature the return of Han So-hee as Chae-ok and Park Seo-joon as a character named Ho-jae. The storyline will take a leap into modern-day Korea, several years after the events at Onseong Hospital, as indicated by the pre-credit scene from Season 1. According to Netflix, the post-credit footage of Season 1 reveals a dramatic shift in time for Season 2, with a character named Ho-jae, who bears a striking resemblance to Jang Tae-sang, unveiling a mysterious scar that raises questions about his identity and the scar's origin.
"This pivotal moment opens the door to the time travel aspect of the series, shifting the scene to Seoul in 2024. The newly revealed images heighten the intrigue by capturing Chae-ok at a crucial moment, hinting at a season filled with mysterious occurrences and connections."

As you may know, the first season ended with unresolved plot points. Chae-ok was believed to be dead until her mother transferred the najin to her, saving her life. The pre-credit scene also introduced Ho-jae, a man who bears a striking resemblance to Tae-sang. But is he really Tae-sang? And let's not overlook the fact that Kato is now the unexpected father of the newborn child infected with the najin.
Rest assured, the release date for Season 2 of Gyeongseong Creature won't be too far off. Han So-hee recently shared photos on Instagram from the wrap-up party in September 2023, indicating that the show is likely in the editing stages. We will keep you updated on any official announcements from Netflix, as well as any teasers, trailers, and more.
