Fool Me Once has quickly climbed to the number two spot on Netflix's top 10 chart, sparking speculation about the possibility of a Season 2. Here's the latest on what we know.
As you woke up on New Year's Day possibly feeling a little worse for wear, you may have been inclined to order in some food and settle in for a Netflix binge. It proved to be a brilliant move to release Fool Me Once on this day – a captivating and addicting mystery series adapted from Harlan Coben's novel of the same title.
The synopsis: "Fool Me Once follows Maya Stern as she grapples with the violent killing of her husband, Joe. After installing a nanny-cam to monitor her daughter, she is startled to find a familiar face in her home - her supposedly deceased husband..." With a top-notch British cast and gripping plot twists, the series has become a success for Netflix. The question remains: will there be a second season?
Will there be a Fool Me Once Season 2?
Fool Me Once, despite its success, is highly unlikely to receive a Season 2. As a limited series, the show has a set number of episodes to tell a complete story arc. Furthermore, Coben’s Netflix contract indicates that another one of his novels will most likely be the next in line.
In 2018, the author signed a five-year deal with Netflix for 14 of his novels to be adapted into shows or movies. According to Deadline, the deal was extended in 2022 for an additional four years and 12 more titles, including his Myron Bolitar series and the 2021 novel Win.
The Harlan Coben Collection on Netflix currently includes adaptations of The Stranger, Stay Close, Innocent, Hold Tight, The Woods, and Gone For Good. Projects based on his 2013 book Six Years and his 2019 novel Run Away were previously reported to be in development, but have not had any updates in recent years.
Expect to hear more about Coben's next Netflix adaptation in the coming months, but it's unlikely to be Fool Me Once Season 2. The series is currently available for streaming on Netflix.

As a Gen Z netizen, I am a big fan of mystery and thriller series, and I was thrilled when I discovered "Fool Me Once" on Netflix. The show's captivating plot, intriguing characters, and unexpected twists kept me hooked from the very first episode. I binged-watched the entire season in one sitting and was left craving more.
The news that "Fool Me Once" is unlikely to receive a second season is disappointing, but I understand the reasons behind it. As a limited series, it was designed to tell a complete story within a set number of episodes. Additionally, Harlan Coben's extensive Netflix contract means that other adaptations of his novels are in the pipeline. While I would have loved to see more of Maya Stern's journey and uncover additional secrets, I am excited about the prospect of exploring other Coben stories on Netflix.
