Inside the Intense Love Triangle on Below Deck: Kate Chastain Reveals the Dramatic Story

Former Below Deck star Kate Chastain reflects on the intense love triangle unfolding between Gary, Daisy, and Colin on Below Deck Sailing Yacht Delve into the riveting drama among these co-stars as Kate shares her thoughts

Fans of Below Deck are just now starting to catch up on the love triangle involving Gary King, Daisy Kelliher, and Colin MacRae. However, Kate Chastain had a front row seat to all of the drama during last year's BravoCon in October 2022. In an exclusive interview with We on Monday, August 7, Kate, 40, revealed that she was privy to all of the love triangle drama during the event. Kate and Captain Lee also discussed their upcoming Bravo series, Couch Talk With Captain Lee and Kate, during the joint interview.

Former Below Deck star, Kate, witnessed the unfolding of the rift and expressed her sadness over the fact that none of them seem to be friends anymore. Prior to this incident, all three of them were incredibly close, and Kate hopes that they can eventually remember the reasons why they enjoyed each other's company.

Then she joked, “I don’t know if they’ll enjoy the company in the same way.”

In season 4 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, Gary, Colin, and Daisy faced conflict due to their overlapping romantic encounters. Prior to joining the crew, Gary and Daisy had a secret hookup. As filming progressed, Daisy developed a closer relationship with Colin, but their romance faded away once they left the Parsifal III.

During the reunion episode, which was broadcasted on Bravo last month, the trio addressed their issues. Gary and Colin expressed openness to reconciling with each other, but the status of their individual relationships with Daisy remained uncertain.

Daisy became emotional as she thought about the possibility of losing her friendships with Colin and Gary. She expressed her feelings by saying, "This is the consequence of putting your heart on the line. I have deep affection for both of them, and they have taught me valuable lessons about myself. I do have some regrets, but what matters more is that I believe I have a kind heart and good intentions. I will keep moving forward and striving for better things."

In the following month, Gary took some time to contemplate his complicated and eventful onscreen journey with Daisy and Colin.

I am still friends with Colin and Daisy, despite what many of you may believe. Last season of #belowdecksailing was not my best, and after watching some episodes, I recognize that I have a lot of work and growing to do. I am committed to becoming a better person and will do whatever it takes. To those who constantly comment negatively and try to bring me down, their words will not affect me. I appreciate all the support and kind messages from those who stand by me. It's a reality show and not my finest moment, but I still maintain a friendship with Colin and Daisy. It's rare for a boatmance to last beyond a charter season, but Captain Lee's marriage to Mary Anne Rosbach proves to be the exception to the rule.

"Lee and Mary Anne had a boat romance, didn't they? So you two might be the only boat romance in history that has withstood the test of time," Kate shared on Monday. Captain Lee, 73, added, "Actually, we were married before we even stepped foot on board."

Kate and Captain Lee will soon be discussing their thoughts on everything Below Deck and Bravo on their upcoming show.

"I've been eagerly anticipating this for years because I've always believed that Kate and I have a special chemistry that truly complements one another. I previously attempted to propose a talk show concept to Bravo, but they initially declined until finally giving it the green light," Captain Lee disclosed to Us. "This experience is much more manageable compared to filming Below Deck. It feels like a return to the good old days. Whenever something needs to be taken care of, Kate handles it effortlessly. There's no need to worry."

Kate expressed her enthusiasm for viewers to witness Captain Lee's sense of humor. "Captain Lee is incredibly funny, and I'm constantly caught off guard by it. Whether we're on the phone or doing Couch Talk, I'll glance at him and think, 'You are truly hilarious.' I suppose I should just embrace it. But he always manages to surprise me with his humor."

Couch Talk With Captain Lee and Kate premieres on Bravo Monday, August 14 at 10 p.m.
