Jen Shah, a star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, would typically celebrate her birthday in a lavish manner like other Real Housewives stars. However, on her 50th birthday, which fell on October 4, 1973, she found herself in a different situation—behind bars. On this significant occasion, her husband, Sharrieff Shah, took to Instagram to shed light on how Jen spent her day. He expressed:
"Today marks my wife's birthday, and Jen Shah has just turned 50. It's safe to say that we are not in the place I had envisioned for her at this milestone. Nevertheless, I can confidently state that we are exactly where we are meant to be according to God's plan. For this, I remain humbled and eternally grateful."

To celebrate his wife's 50th birthday, the 52-year-old football coach reached out to 50 people close to Shah's life and requested them to write a birthday message. He collected the messages and presented them to her, much to her delight. Sharing the information, he mentioned that due to Shah being in a federal facility, their phone conversations are restricted to a maximum of ten minutes at a time. He further expressed how deeply moved his wife was by the messages, saying she cried tears of joy and appreciation for over six minutes. Expressing gratitude, he thanked everyone who had prayed for them, sent kind thoughts, and loved them unconditionally.

In March 2021, the reality star was arrested for alleged involvement in a telemarketing scheme that targeted and defrauded numerous victims, particularly senior citizens. Initially asserting her innocence, she later admitted guilt in July 2022 for conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Consequently, she is now serving a 6.5-year sentence in federal prison and has been ordered to repay the defrauded funds. Starting her sentence in February 2023, she is currently incarcerated at the Federal Prison Camp located in Bryan, Texas.
