Genshin Impact fans have discovered an intriguing aspect about Lynette, an upcoming character from the region of Fontaine. The game's official social media accounts have already confirmed the upcoming release of three new characters in the upcoming update, expected to arrive in mid-August. Among these characters is Lynette, a new Anemo character who serves as a magician's assistant alongside her brother Lyney. Both of these characters made their initial appearance in the Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview: Travail, where they represented the Hydro nation.
A Reddit user named JigglyFan initiated an engaging conversation on the official Genshin Impact subreddit regarding Lynette's appearance. Recent official Genshin Impact splash art has confirmed that Lynette possesses cat-like ears and a tail, unlike her brother Lyney, who has regular human ears. The community has been left perplexed as the two characters are introduced as siblings. The post gained significant attention on the game's main subreddit with over 3.8k upvotes. Some fans speculate that the variance in their ear types could be attributed to one of their parents having animal features like Gorou or Diona, while the other does not. Alternatively, a popular theory suggests that the two may not be blood-related.
However, the second theory has been dismissed by many players as both characters share a distinct eye color. Certain Travelers propose that they might have been raised in the well-known House of the Hearth orphanage situated in the Snezhnaya region. This orphanage is overseen by Arlecchino, who also assumes the role of the main antagonist in the upcoming Fontaine Archon Quest.
The recent Fontaine teaser strongly suggests that Lyney and Lynette's stories are connected to Arlecchino. Previous leaks about Genshin Impact have also hinted that Lyney may have a deceptive and self-centered side, despite appearing friendly.
Lynette, on the other hand, is confirmed to be a new four-star Anemo character with exceptional synergy with her brother Lyney. She is rumored to be a formidable DPS unit, specializing in using Charged Attacks, much like Ganyu and Tighnari.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
