Mark Ballas and BC Jean shared the heartbreaking news that they experienced a miscarriage before their current pregnancy. They bravely opened up about their loss, explaining that they had believed they were ready to share the joyous news with loved ones when they received the devastating update that their little one would not survive. Both Ballas and Jean acknowledge that while they have faced challenges in the past, this particular sorrow brought a unique kind of sadness.
Ballas and Jean, the music-producing duo behind the band Alexander Jean, released a new song titled "Rainbow" on Thursday to commemorate their loss. They aim to provide solace to anyone who has experienced loss by conveying the message that a rainbow always follows, bringing a sense of peace. As Dancing with the Stars alum and Jean (also known as Brittany Jean Carlson) anticipate the arrival of their rainbow baby, their new track reflects the journey of finding hope in the aftermath of a loss.
"Sing me a melody of hope," Jean croons. "I'm powerless to revive your spirit. I am at a loss for words, as life is unpredictable like an unexpected summer shower. It's amusing how swiftly it can transform, but a rainbow is not too far away."
The song and its profound meaning offered solace to numerous members of Ballas' DWTS comrades, including Jenna Johnson, who openly shared her struggles with fertility before joyfully welcoming her son, Rome, into the world with husband Val Chmerkovskiy.

“This really hits home you guys. Love you so much,” she wrote in an Instagram comment.
Fellow ballroom pro Pasha Pashkov added: “Love you guys so much.”
Shirley Ballas, Mark's mother, also expressed her admiration for the exceptionally well-written song. In her own comment, she added, "This particular one deeply resonates with me. I have a tremendous love for both of you and I am genuinely sorry for your loss."
In June, Mark and Jean made a joyful announcement about their pregnancy.
"Experiencing the sight of our baby's movement for the first time was a moment that will forever be ingrained in my memory," Mark, who retired from DWTS earlier this year after winning season 31 with Charli D’Amelio, shared on Instagram in August. "I eagerly anticipate meeting our little one. The reality of it all has me overwhelmed with emotions." Mark and Jean crossed paths in 2012 and dated for nearly three years until their engagement. They exchanged vows in November 2016.
