Halo Infinite Introduces Thrilling 8v8 Playlist, Garnering Massive Fan Obsession

Halo Infinite's latest addition to its rotation, the 8v8 mode known as Squad Battle, has quickly become a fan favorite. With the launch of Season 4, players can now enjoy Infection, two new official maps, and a fresh career rank system.

The road has been challenging for Halo Infinite since its release during the 2021 holiday season. As Xbox's flagship first-person shooter for the new generation, it received positive feedback for its campaign, which introduced an open-world Halo experience. However, the absence of campaign co-op at launch disappointed some players. This mode brings back a sense of nostalgia with its classic 8v8 Big Team Battle player count, a familiar feature in previous Halo titles before Infinite raised the stakes to 12v12. Squad Battle takes place on three beloved maps from Halo 2 and 3, meticulously reconstructed by dedicated members of the community. The first map, Vallaheim created by HaiseOz, faithfully recreates Halo 3's iconic Valhalla. The next map, Rat's Nest by Mastermetalex, pays homage to the equally legendary Halo 3 DLC map of the same name. Lastly, we have Kusini Bay, crafted by the talented Mr Kwatz, which captures the essence of Halo 2's beloved classic map, Zanzibar.

The introduction of this game mode harkens back to the Bungie era of Halo, invoking a sense of nostalgia among fans and generating positive feedback for Halo Infinite. Although these community-created maps may not possess the same level of visual polish as the official maps made by developer 343 Industries, the studio's decision to collaborate with their most skilled community map creators for this mode is a clever move. This is especially important given 343's struggle to consistently release new official maps since the launch of Halo Infinite in 2021.

Squad Battle, a temporary game mode, will eventually be replaced by another mode, in line with the dynamic nature of live service gaming. However, many fans have expressed their desire for Squad Battle to become a permanent addition. They also advocate for the inclusion of more remakes of classic Halo 3 maps in the future. This surge of enthusiasm within the Halo community for Halo Infinite and the idea of making Squad Battle a permanent feature is unprecedented since 2021. It is now up to 343 to acknowledge this positive sentiment surrounding Squad Battle and take action to ensure that fans of this mode remain satisfied moving forward.
