Taylor Swift released her latest rerecorded album, Speak Now (Taylor's Version), which includes never-before-heard songs. Among the new tracks is "When Emma Falls In Love," which has sparked speculation among fans about its connection to Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield. Stone has been a close friend of Swift for a long time.

"When Emma experiences love, she reaches out to her mother and playfully discusses potential mishaps," Swift sings in the initial verse. "She exercises patience and proceeds with caution, as the optimistic 'Little Miss Sunshine' always anticipates rain."

As analysts delved into the song's meaning, certain listeners became convinced that the phrase "little miss sunshine" alluded to Stone's iconic scene in Easy A, where she joyfully sings along to Natasha Bedingfield's "Pocketful of Sunshine."

Elsewhere on the new track, Swift croons: "Emma encounters a young man with captivating eyes / Who effortlessly holds her heart in the palm of his hand / Unaware that he will become her refuge in rainy days / Little does he realize, his entire world is on the verge of transformation."

As some fans speculate that the mysterious boy could be Stone's former flame, Kieran Culkin — the two had a romantic involvement following their collaboration in the 2009 film Paper Man — others question if the song emphasizes friendship rather than romantic affection.

Swift sings in the bridge that when Emma falls in love, she won't lose herself like Swift did. She's very assertive and won't hesitate to call you out and put you in your place.

Stone's most notable relationship was with Garfield, which started after Swift wrote the song. They first met while filming The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012, where they played Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker. Their onscreen chemistry quickly translated into a real-life romance.

“She keeps you constantly engaged and that jolts you awake. That marked the beginning,” Garfield revealed to MTV News in June 2012, expressing his immense happiness upon learning that Stone had accepted the role after their screen test. “Those were the days I eagerly anticipated, you know? Not just for [my character] Peter, but for Peter, he endures some awful experiences in the film. There's a certain joy in witnessing his first love.”

The duo reprised their roles for the franchise's subsequent film, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, in 2014, before eventually ending their relationship one year later. "They still share a deep affection for each other and remain on good terms, maintaining a close connection," an insider shared exclusively with We at the time of their breakup. "It simply wasn't working out."

Stone and Garfield have both moved on romantically, with Stone marrying Dave McCary in 2020. However, they have remained supportive of each other throughout the years. In a 2017 interview with Vanity Fair, Garfield described the love and respect they have for each other as "unconditional." He expressed his admiration for Stone's talent and success, stating that he is her biggest fan as an artist. Having each other's support has been a wonderful and beautiful thing for them.

Stone has maintained strong relationships with her exes, but her connection with Swift is even stronger. They first met in 2008 at the Young Hollywood Awards when Stone reached out to Swift via email to express her admiration for her music. Since then, their friendship has blossomed. Stone describes Swift as funny and exactly who she appears to be, which is why she loves her.

The two best friends have been seen together in various activities, including enjoying ice cream in New York City and meeting up in Paris. In 2010, Swift supported Stone by attending the premiere of her film Easy A, and she was also there for the debut of Stone's 2018 movie The Favourite, which also featured Swift's boyfriend at the time, Joe Alwyn.

"It is of utmost importance to have trustworthy people in your life. Emma and Selena Gomez have been alongside me through numerous changes over the past few years, and our friendship has remained steadfast," Swift expressed enthusiastically in an interview with Access Hollywood in October 2012. "That's truly reassuring."

Before the initial release of Speak Now in 2010, Stone revealed that her bond with the Grammy winner was so strong that she had the privilege of previewing the album. "I was fortunate enough to listen to it early on, so it is incredibly exciting to now have the songs in my possession instead of just singing them in my mind," Stone shared with MTV News at the time. When Swift commenced her 2023 Eras Tour earlier this year, Stone attended the opening night as part of the audience.

“The concert was pretty amazing,” Stone told Vanity Fair in June 2023, noting that Swift “hooked me up” with the hard-to-grab tickets. “She’s a wonderful friend,” she added.
