HoYoverse, the company behind Genshin Impact, has achieved remarkable financial success in 2022 according to a recent report. Despite being a free-to-play game, Genshin Impact incorporates a gacha-based system where players must use their Primogems to obtain exclusive characters.
With every update, Genshin Impact introduces two banner cycles, each showcasing a selection of limited characters, including one or two five-star characters and three four-star characters. Players have approximately three weeks to try their luck at acquiring these characters before the banner expires. However, those who are unable to obtain a desired character must wait for a period of 5-7 months for the characters to become available again.
The recent financial report released by HoYoverse, the developer of Genshin Impact, has garnered attention. With a revenue of approximately 3.844 billion USD and a net income of around 2.27 billion USD, HoYoverse has exceeded expectations. Despite being considered an indie company, they have managed to achieve remarkable financial success. However, some fans speculate that the revenue generated specifically from Genshin Impact may be slightly lower this year due to the release of their new game, Honkai: Star Rail, which has also captured a significant portion of the player base.
In terms of banner sales, recent reports indicate that the Limited Character Banners have not been performing well. An example of this is the second cycle of the previous Genshin Impact update 3.6, which introduced two new Dendro users, Baizhu and Kaveh. Surprisingly, the banner attracted a disappointingly low number of sales.
In addition to saving their Primogems, players are eagerly awaiting the introduction of the new region, Fontaine, in Genshin Impact. This upcoming update will bring an opportunity for players to obtain a new set of Fontaine-themed characters and weapons.
As Genshin Impact continues to expand its roster of playable characters, there is speculation that the mechanics of banner pulls may be altered. In a previous update, double banners were introduced, enabling players to pull for two different limited five-star characters in one banner cycle. Fans are hopeful that the Fontaine update will introduce a triple banner feature, allowing them to acquire three different five-star characters.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
