Genshin Impact has successfully gone 500 days without introducing a new character that wields the Geo Vision. The game features a total of seven elements, with the most recent addition being Dendro. Dendro's incorporation has brought about a plethora of new elemental reactions that have entirely shifted the character meta.
Players are required to combine the game's elements to create various elemental reactions that have different effects, ranging from freezing a group of enemies with Freeze to enhancing the characters' damage potential with Vaporize. Although most elements can interact with each other, Geo and Anemo are considered neutral elements.
Developer HoYoverse follows an interesting pattern of releasing new characters with every update, and the latest addition is the Dendro user Kirara. Throughout the Sumeru arc, Genshin Impact has consistently added at least one new character in every version of the game. However, the ongoing Genshin Impact 3.7 update is the first release since 3.0 that has not included a new five-star character. HoYoverse typically strives to balance the number of playable characters for each of the seven elements, but one element seems to be lacking. A Reddit user named pumaflex_ recently started an intriguing discussion on the game's main subreddit, commemorating the milestone of not releasing a new Geo character for 500 days.
The most recent Geo user to join the roster was Yunjin, who debuted in update 2.4 on January 5, 2022. HoYoverse has not officially stated why there haven't been any new Geo users for such a long time, but fans speculate that the main reason could be the element's lack of synergy with Dendro.
Despite arriving in late August 2022, the number of characters with a Dendro Vision has already surpassed the number of Geo users in the roster. However, Dendro's introduction has not brought any new elemental reactions that can interact with Geo, as this element can only trigger Crystalize when in contact with Pyro, Electro, Hydro, and Cryo.
Currently, the only character that effectively utilizes Dendro is Liyue Archon Zhongli, who possesses a kit that enables him to deal massive bursts of damage and create the strongest shield in the game. Genshin Impact fans have been persistently requesting HoYoverse to overhaul the way Geo interacts with other elements in the game for a long time.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, and a Switch version is in development.
