Genshin Impact is reintroducing Eula as a featured banner character in Version 3.8, marking her return after a nearly two-year absence. Due to the launch of Inazuma, many new players were unable to obtain Eula, leading to jokes about her being a mysterious character. Her last appearance was in Version 2.3 on November 24, 2021, where she was paired with Albedo, a specialized Geo character. Unlike Albedo, who had a rerun a year later, Eula fans had to wait over 500 days for her banner to come back.
This extended wait, combined with the expanding roster of characters, prompted the community to express their desire for triple banners in Genshin Impact. Eula's focus on Physical Damage sets her apart as a niche character, which contrasts with the elemental reactions that are a core aspect of the game. Although Eula can synergize well with Raiden Shogun or Yelan for Superconduct or Shatter teams, her Cryo element takes a backseat to the powerful strikes of her Claymore. Unfortunately, this, along with the emphasis on Dendro for Sumeru, caused Eula to fade into the background in terms of meta.
Eula's comeback was revealed during the Special Program for Secret Summer Adventure, Version 3.8 of Genshin Impact. Eula and Klee are set to be the featured characters for this update, a development that has been widely speculated (and even leaked) for several months prior to the official announcement. However, fans of Eula have undoubtedly been concerned that the developers might have a change of heart at the last minute, especially considering the belief that Eula was originally intended to make a return alongside Mika's debut in Version 3.5 due to the synergy between their abilities.
Investing in Eula, despite the anticipation for new Genshin Impact characters like Wriothesley, Furina, Neuvillette, and Clorinde, may prove to be a wise decision due to her rarity. The combination of Hydro and Cryo elements is advantageous, especially considering the emphasis on Hydro in Fontaine. This suggests that there will likely be characters who can further enhance Eula's damage potential.
Another character who has not appeared in a long time is Zhongli, the Geo Archon, and coincidentally, the ideal Support character for Eula Superconduct teams. As a Geo Polearm wielder, Zhongli excels in summoning robust shields to protect any character on the field. With a reasonable cooldown and some skill, Eula can remain shielded from harm for extended periods. Zhongli's most recent appearance in Genshin Impact was on August 24, 2022. While it is uncertain if he will be featured in one of the banners for Version 4.0, he is certainly next in line for a rerun.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, Mobile, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
