Funds are currently being raised to support the family of Johnny Wactor following the unexpected passing of the actor.
Wactor's godmother, Michaelle Kinard, shared on a GoFundMe page created on May 27, "On May 25, my closest friend's son was tragically taken from us. He was a victim of a completely senseless crime! Known to many as Brandon Corbin on General Hospital, Johnny Wactor was pursuing his dreams in Los Angeles. Sadly, he was fatally shot while encountering a crime early Saturday morning. Johnny was a truly kind-hearted individual. My heart breaks for him and we are seeking justice for him!"
Kinard explained that she organized the fundraiser to help Johnny's family, including his mother Scarlett, and his brothers Lance and Grant, travel 2,000 miles to handle the difficult situation they have been faced with.
She also mentioned that the goal was to raise enough money for the family to be able to confront the killer and hopefully find closure. Any extra funds raised would be donated to charities chosen by the family in Johnny's memory.
As of Tuesday, May 28, over 450 generous individuals have contributed more than $51,000 towards the fundraiser's $100,000 target goal.
Wactor tragically lost his life in Los Angeles at the age of 37 on Saturday, May 25. According to his mother who spoke to TMZ the following day, Wactor was with a coworker when they encountered three individuals trying to steal the catalytic converter from his car. Despite not getting involved, Wactor was shot and sadly passed away at the hospital.
Johnny's brother, Grant, provided additional information about the incident during an interview with the Daily Mail on Monday. He mentioned that Johnny had seen the men near his car while escorting a female coworker to her car after work. Grant explained that Johnny inquired about his car possibly being towed before realizing the men were armed and quickly protecting his coworker.

Several celebrities paid tribute to Johnny with heartfelt messages, including his former TV wife Sofia Mattsson. Mattsson shared on Instagram on Sunday, May 26, "My heart is completely shattered... Johnny was truly the best. He was so real, so compassionate, and so down-to-earth. He worked tirelessly and remained humble." She also posted several pictures of herself and Johnny from their time on General Hospital.
She continued to express, "He had a huge heart that radiated kindness and joy. He always made sure to make everyone around him feel seen, heard, and loved. I have so much admiration for the person he was, and I feel grateful to have known him."
The show's official social media accounts also shared their condolences, stating, "The entire General Hospital family is deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Johnny Wactor. He was truly unique and a joy to work with every day. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this challenging time."
Tessa Farrell, the actor's former fiancée, posted a heartfelt video on social media, appealing to those responsible for Johnny's death.
In the emotional video uploaded on Monday, she addressed the person who committed the crime, expressing, "If you're watching this, I want to tell you that you made a mistake. You have the capability to find a legitimate job. Times may be tough, but we are all facing challenges together. There is no need to resort to theft, especially when it comes at the cost of a person's life. Human life should not be taken lightly."
