Ayaneo has launched the Ayaneo SLIDE, a handheld gaming device that features a 6-inch 1080p screen and a sliding QWERTY keyboard.
Powered by the renowned Ryzen 7 7840U APU, the SLIDE boasts robust hall effect joysticks and triggers.
Despite the significant impact made by the Steam Deck in the world of handheld gaming, Ayaneo has been a longstanding player in this market, having previously introduced successful handheld gaming PCs like the Ayaneo KUN and Ayaneo Pocket.
Ayaneo has introduced its latest handheld gaming device, the Ayaneo SLIDE, as a direct competitor to the Steam Deck. With a 6-inch, 1080p display, the SLIDE features an innovative design where the screen slides up to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. Powered by the popular Ryzen 7 7840U APU, which has gained a strong reputation in the portable gaming industry, it offers hall effect joysticks and triggers that prioritize durability over precision compared to traditional potentiometer-based joysticks.
Ever since Valve made a significant impact in the handheld gaming device market with the release of the Steam Deck back in February of last year, other major players such as Asus and Lenovo have entered the competition. In the meantime, Ayaneo, which has been manufacturing handheld gaming PCs for several years, launched its first device in 2020. Continuing their momentum, the company has recently unveiled two additional devices, namely the Ayaneo KUN and the Ayaneo Pocket, this year.
Introducing Ayaneo KUN
The highly anticipated Ayaneo KUN handheld gaming device is set to impress with its cutting-edge technology. Powered by the latest AMD Ryzen 7040 series APUs, which boast integrated Radeon 700M graphics, the Ayaneo KUN promises seamless performance. It showcases a magnificent 8.4-inch 1600p display, complemented by innovative hall-effect joysticks and touchpads.
However, the star of the show is undeniably the KUN's colossal 75Wh 19500mAH battery, surpassing the Steam Deck's capacity by a staggering four times. This remarkable feature ensures extended gaming sessions without worrying about running out of power.
Ayaneo SLIDE Design Vs Steam Deck
Introducing the Ayaneo SLIDE, a compact handheld gaming device that marks the company's inaugural venture into the realm of full-keyboard Windows handhelds. Positioned adjacent to the screen, which we will delve into in further detail shortly, are innovative hall effect joysticks on both sides. The left side of the device is equipped with a D-pad, two menu buttons, while the right joystick is complemented by ABXY buttons and two additional buttons. This handheld device does not incorporate touch pads or front-facing speakers. Nevertheless, it showcases a remarkable sliding display that rests atop a keyboard. Positioned atop are two bumper buttons; however, distinct from the Steam Deck, the SLIDE does not incorporate any customizable buttons on its rear side.
The Steam Deck has finally arrived and is causing a sensation in the portable gaming industry. In collaboration with AMD, Valve has developed a unique APU for the Steam Deck, specifically designed for optimal performance while gaming on the go. This powerhouse combines Zen 2 + RDNA 2 technologies, providing exceptional power efficiency and more than enough capability to smoothly run the latest AAA games.

On the other hand, the Steam Deck also features a gyroscope but opts for the more traditional ALPS joysticks and front-facing speakers. In terms of battery capacity, the Indigogo page mentions a slightly larger 45.62Wh battery for the SLIDE, surpassing the 40Wh battery of the Steam Deck.
