In late July, Rexha, who had disclosed her diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) two months prior, announced that she and Safyari had ended their relationship.

Rexha was the mastermind behind Eminem and Rihanna's chart-topping hit in 2013 - a vision she had years before.

The biting track's lyrical intent stems from the struggle of feeling comfortable in one's own skin. Rexha revealed that it was a message of self-acceptance, acknowledging that it's alright to be imperfect. She emphasized her determination to love and embrace herself even with her quirks.

In 2019, Rexha received her initial Grammy nominations, contending for Best New Artist and Best Country Duo/Group Performance with "Meant to Be," her joint effort with Florida Georgia Line.

Bebe Rexha’s Dad Slut-Shamed Her

In 2019, Rexha revealed that her dad expressed dissatisfaction with the sexual content present in her music career. She posted a text message from him on her Instagram Story, where he allegedly criticized her for posting what he considered to be inappropriate material. Alongside a screenshot of the message, Rexha captioned it with "My dad hates me" and a face-palm emoji.

After facing criticism from fans over her father's remarks, Rexha attempted to address the situation by standing up for her dad.

"I kindly request that you refrain from making derogatory remarks about my father, as he is an exceedingly exceptional parent," she expressed on Twitter in now-deleted posts. "My father is not a malevolent individual. I should not have posted that screenshot in the first place. I am disappointed in my own actions. I employed sarcasm. I comprehend the perspective of a father, and that's why my message may have seemed harsh. I am disheartened that he continues to maintain silence, but I must acknowledge that he is still my father."

PCOS Diagnosis

In May 2023, Rexha — who has been candid about her body image over the years — shared on The Jennifer Hudson Show that she was diagnosed with PCOS.

In the messages, he questioned, "Clearly, you've gained weight and your face has changed. Should I ignore it and act like it's not a problem?" He continued, "Even if I gain just 3 pounds, you mockingly call me 'chubbs' and 'fat'. That doesn't mean you don't love me. If you're looking for excuses to end our relationship, this might seem like a valid one, but it's not the real reason."

Rexha confirmed that she and the filmmaker split later that month.

“Now I just went through a breakup, so I might get a little emotional,” she told the crowd at her London show.
