RHOBH's Kyle Richards marks a significant milestone as she joyfully commemorates one year of sobriety In a candid revelation, she shares the empowering journey of her decision to quit drinking, recognizing its detrimental impact on her life

Kyle Richards is celebrating a significant achievement in her journey to sobriety.

"Today is the one-year mark of my sobriety from alcohol. Several factors led me to the realization that I no longer desired to drink. Primarily, I recognized that it did not align with my personal values and aspirations," shared the 54-year-old star of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Instagram on Saturday, July 15. "I followed my intuition, and the message was unmistakable to me. I understood that alcohol was no longer benefiting me in any aspect - physically, mentally, or spiritually."

She continued, stating that she never set a specific time frame for when she would drink again or even if she ever would. However, she emphasized that she has never felt better both physically and mentally. She recognized that she still tends to overshare, but no longer experiences the anxiety associated with it. She admitted that she still makes mistakes and tends to be hard on herself, but she has also discovered that she can still have fun without alcohol. Overall, she found the journey to be easier than anticipated, despite encountering resistance from some individuals. It is important to note that she clarified she didn't have a "problem with alcohol" but that it made her feel depressed the following day.

"And frankly, life is bound to present us with challenging days. I definitely don't need to contribute any additional ones to that already lengthy list," she concluded her message on social media.

A number of Richards' celebrity acquaintances — including RHOBH co-stars Erika Jayne and Garcelle Beauvais — and family members expressed their love and support for her in the comments, as she embarks on her wellness journey.

Richards' daughter Alexia, aged 27, expressed her excitement and pride, exclaiming "What!!! Omg I am so proud of you!! We love a determined and healthy queen, with a strong mind, body, and soul" through an Instagram comment. Her eldest daughter, Farrah, aged 34, added her love and support, saying "Love you."

The actress from "Halloween Ends" shares a daughter named Farrah with her ex-husband, Guraish Aldjufrie, from her first marriage. Following her divorce in 1992, Richards started a new chapter with her current husband, Mauricio Umansky, and together they have daughters named Alexia, Sophia (23), and Portia (15). Richards has attributed her weight loss to her decision to live an alcohol-free lifestyle.

"I decided to make changes to my diet after spending a month in Europe. We spent three weeks in Europe and then a week in Australia, and during that time, I noticed that I had gained weight. It was a turning point for me, and I made the decision to eliminate sugar, carbs, and alcohol from my diet," she shared during a January Amazon Live session. She also mentioned that she felt incredibly well with her new dietary choices.

Richards' achievement of sobriety comes amidst the difficulties in her marriage with Umansky, who is 53 years old. Earlier this month, it was confirmed that the couple was going through a rough patch after 27 years of marriage and had decided to separate, but they are currently still living together.

"We want to clarify that any rumors about us getting a divorce are false. It's true that we have faced challenges this year, the toughest ones yet in our marriage. However, it is important to emphasize that we have a deep love and respect for each other. Neither of us has done anything wrong."

According to an exclusive source, Richards and Umansky are actively rebuilding the foundation of their relationship because they genuinely want to find a way to make their marriage successful.
