Frieren anime episode 10 highlights: A flashback reveals Frieren's past and her first meeting with Flamme
The tenth episode of the anime "Frieren" began with a flashback, showcasing the Elfen mage and her master Flamme. Flamme, who was known as a legendary mage, warned Frieren about the deceptive nature of the demons. Advising her to retaliate with even more cunning tactics since the demons played unfairly.
Shifting to the present, the episode delved into the consequences of Fern's fierce duel against Lord Lugner. Despite Fern emerging victorious, the demon executioner remained assured that his master, Aura, would triumph over Frieren.
He mentioned that during Aura's previous encounter with Frieren, she had to withdraw due to the interference of her comrades. As they were no longer present to shield her from harm, Lugner believed that Aura now had a significant opportunity for triumph. However, Fern understood that her master would not dare to engage in direct combat with a demon.

In episode 10 of the Frieren anime, a sense of unease struck Lord Lugner as he observed the young mage's surprisingly immense strength, despite her weak mana energy. Eventually, he unravelled the secret behind her abilities and placed a curse upon her. Fern retaliated by casting a powerful spell, obliterating him completely. This pivotal moment in the episode then transported fans back to Frieren's past through a compelling flashback.
In a haunting scene captured by Madhouse Studios, the destroyed village of the elven mage is revealed after being ravaged by a terrifying Demon Knight. Just as despair hung heavy in the air, a legendary mage named Flamme appeared, crossing paths with Frieren for the very first time. Overwhelmed by the elfen mage's impressive mana force, Flamme couldn't help but acknowledge her bravery, as she chose not to flee from the catastrophic scene.
However, for that exact reason, she also labeled her a fool. Interestingly enough, during their journey back, both Flamme and Frieren unexpectedly encountered an ambush from the troops belonging to the demon king. It was then that the awe-inspiring powers of the renowned mage effortlessly obliterated all of them with a single strike.

Flamme imparted all her magical knowledge to Frieren, including the skill to control the flow of natural mana. Capitalizing on her innate abilities, Frieren swiftly absorbed Flamme's teachings. As a Gen Z netizen, I have mixed feelings about episode 10 of the anime "Frieren". On one hand, I appreciate the backstory provided about Frieren's past and her relationship with Flamme. It was interesting to see how Frieren developed her skills and learned to control her mana. The animation and visuals in the flashback scenes were also stunning.
On the other hand, I found the pacing of the episode to be a bit slow, and the battle between Frieren and Aura was somewhat anticlimactic. I would have liked to see more of a struggle from Aura, as she is supposed to be a powerful demon. Overall, I think episode 10 was a solid addition to the series, but it could have been better.
