Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is an anime adaptation of the original manga series by author Kanehito Yamada and illustrator Tsukasa Abe. Official announcements reveal that the anime will begin with a special two-hour premiere and will be the first to premiere on a Japanese broadcast programming block typically dedicated to feature films.

Meanwhile, Yasumoto will bring to life Qual, a formidable demon known as the "Elder Sage of Corruption," who possesses the lethal Zoltraak magic capable of eliminating anyone in its path.
The protagonist and titular character in the anime are portrayed by Atsumi Tanezaki. Other cast members include Nobuhiko Okamoto as Himmel, Hiroki Touchi as Heither, Yoji Ueda as Eisen, Kana Ichinose as Fern, and Chiaki Kobayashi as Stark. It is not clear whether these recent cast announcements, along with the earlier ones, encompass the full cast for the first season of the anime at the time of writing this article.
The series is directed by Keiichiro Saito at Madhouse Studios. Tomohiro Suzuki is responsible for the series scripts. Reiko Nagasawa is in charge of character design, while Evan Call composes the music for the series. The opening theme song, titled "Yusha" which translates to "Hero," is performed by YOASOBI. The ending theme, titled "Anytime Anywhere," is performed by milet.

The manga created by Yamada and Abe made its debut in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in April 2023. Recently, the 11th volume of the series was released in Japan on September 15. Viz Media brought an English version of the eighth volume to readers in June, and they are now eagerly waiting for the ninth volume, which is scheduled to be released on October 17.
The series went on a brief break in mid-January, but promptly resumed serialization by the end of March. Notably, it received the prestigious 25th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize and the 14th Manga Taisho Award in 2021.
