The first episode of Frieren's Mini Anime 'Magic of ??' was streamed on the official website of the popular Frieren anime series on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. This chibi mini-anime focuses on the daily-life stories of the characters from the mainline anime, showcasing them trying different magic spells during their journey. The character designs are done by illustrator Mebachi, known for their work on anime series such as FLCL Progressive and Chainsaw Man.
The original Frieren anime series is currently streaming its first episode on the official website of the anime and TOHO Animation's YouTube channel. Additionally, the first episode of the mini-anime chibi version, as well as the upcoming ones, can also be found on the anime's official X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok accounts.

As previously mentioned, this brand new original chibi mini-anime web series acts as a delightful slice-of-life companion to the mainline television Frieren anime series. Viewers can expect fresh episodes of the companion web series to be released every Wednesday on the official website of the mainline anime series, as well as on the aforementioned platforms.
The main anime series premiered with a two-hour special on Friday, September 29, 2023. It was the first anime to debut in NTV's "Kinyo Roadshow" programming block, typically reserved for feature films in its Friday evening timeslot. Subsequent episodes have been airing at 11 pm JST on Fridays in NTV's new "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT" timeslot. The series is scheduled to run for two consecutive cours until March 2024.
Atsumi Tanezaki portrays the protagonist and titular character, Frieren. Other notable cast members include Nobuhiko Okamoto as Himmel, Hiroki Touchi as Heiter, Yoji Ueda as Eisen, Kana Ichinose as Fern, Chiaki Kobayashi as Stark, Atsuko Tanaka as Flamme, and Hiroki Yasumoto as Qual.

The series at Madhouse Studios is being directed by Keiichiro Saito, with Tomohiro Suzuki responsible for the scripts. Reiko Nagasawa is in charge of character design, and Evan Call is composing the music for the series. The opening theme song, titled "Yusha" (which means "Hero"), is performed by YOASOBI, while the ending theme song, "Anytime Anywhere," is performed by milet.
The original manga series, created by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, made its debut in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in April 2020. In Japan, the series recently released its 11th compilation volume on September 15, 2023. Viz Media has already published the eighth volume in English on June 20, 2023, and the ninth volume is set to be released on October 17.
