Nintendo enthusiast creates record-breaking, fully functional Wii console, boasting the title of world's largest This impressive mod showcases the dedication and innovation of the gaming community

Nintendo Wii fan Jon Bringus has taken the concept of a modded console to the extreme by creating what may be the world's largest fully functional Wii. The console, which was released in 2006, remains one of the most groundbreaking developments by Nintendo to this day.

It's no wonder that the console, originally codenamed Revolution, is held in such high regard. It was praised for its unique yet intuitive controls, which appealed to a broad audience, as well as its software and compact design. Even now, the Wii is still appreciated by gamers who grew up with the console, those who are experiencing its games for the first time, and modders who are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

One such modder is YouTuber Joe Bringus, who has taken the idea of a modded Wii to the next level with his latest creation, the "Wii XL". This console is approximately 2.3 times larger than the original Wii and has a volume that is 12 times greater. Despite its massive size, the Wii XL is fully functional and can play both Wii and GameCube games, including the beloved Wii Sports. It can also read memory and SD cards, and is compatible with USB controllers. Bringus even went so far as to add a built-in HDMI adapter, making the Wii XL a true marvel of engineering and ingenuity.

Bringus' video showcases his innovative process of constructing the exterior of the Wii console, utilizing white board panels and state-of-the-art 3D printing tools. His project also saw him creating a printed circuit board for the first time, which enabled him to connect all the necessary electrical components to ensure the modded console could function without the need for emulation.

Though the modded Wii has a few minor faults, such as the inability to utilize the Wii's sensor bar and the need to poke the sync button from outside the disc slot, Bringus' project allowed him and the gaming community to experience one of the most significant developments in gaming history in a whole new way. Most fans will likely never forget the awe-inspiring sight of the world's largest Wii console.
