Fred Goldman, Ron Goldman's father, recently spoke out about O.J. Simpson's passing. He expressed, "Today serves as a stark reminder of how much time has passed since we lost Ron and how deeply we continue to feel his absence." Fred emphasized, "The focus should always remain on the victims."
News broke on Thursday that Simpson passed away at 76 after battling cancer. The Simpson family released a statement via X, saying, "On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, lost his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. In this time of transition, the family kindly requests privacy and grace from the public."
Simpson initially gained fame as a football star, but his reputation took a dark turn when his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron were tragically found murdered outside her home in Los Angeles in 1994. The couple had married in 1985, but their marriage ended in 1992.
After a low-speed Bronco chase through the city and highways around Los Angeles, Simpson was arrested and charged with the murders, for which he was later acquitted. The highly publicized trial, known as The Trial of the Century, inspired the 2016 limited series "The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story."
In a civil suit brought by Ron's family, Simpson was held responsible for wrongful death and battery. He was ordered to pay $33.5 million to the victims' families. In February, reports surfaced about Simpson receiving treatment for prostate cancer, although he never confirmed the diagnosis publicly. Addressing rumors of being in hospice care, Simpson took to social media to deny the speculation.

In a video shared on X in February, Simpson expressed disbelief at the mention of hospice care. He clarified, "No, I'm not in any hospice. I don't know who spread that rumor."
Simpson's legal troubles made headlines again in September 2007 when he was arrested for leading a group of men to steal sports memorabilia from a room at a Las Vegas hotel and casino. He faced several felony charges, such as kidnapping and armed robbery.
Simpson served nine years in a Nevada prison before being granted an early release in July 2017 from Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada.
