Fortnite has made the Upgrade Bench more affordable for players by decreasing the cost of upgrades, making it worth using.
The initial chapter of Fortnite was significantly less advanced than the current state of the game, with a plethora of features and mechanics now available. Consequently, the majority of players have no desire to revert back to that early stage.
Although certain gameplay enhancements such as diverse mobility choices and weapon upgrades have been highly successful, others such as Upgrade Benches were implemented poorly and incurred exorbitant costs, resulting in a lack of appeal for their utilization.
Fortnite made adjustments to the Upgrade Bench, reducing the number of gold bars required for upgrades and making it more affordable for players. The initial launch of Fortnite's battle royale mode did not include many of the features and mechanics that are now available in the game. While some players feel nostalgic about the first chapter of Fortnite, they would have to give up many useful features if they were to go back to the state of the game in 2017. The game has undergone significant changes over the past few years, with Epic Games adding numerous elements that have become essential to the gameplay. In the early days, there were very few mobility items, such as launch pads, shopping carts, and impulse grenades, which made looting locations and dealing with the Storm Circle quite challenging. However, Epic Games addressed player concerns and gradually introduced various vehicles, vines, ziplines, Slap Juice, and sprinting, all of which have greatly enhanced the gaming experience.
Unfortunately, not all gameplay additions have been as successful as these. The Upgrade Benches were initially a great concept, allowing gamers to enhance their weapons' rarity using gold bars. However, the execution left much to be desired, as the cost outweighed the benefits. Consequently, very few players utilized the Upgrade Benches, unless they were compelled to do so by a specific quest. Thankfully, with the release of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4, Epic Games quietly reduced the amount of gold required for weapon upgrades at the Benches, without even mentioning it in the patch notes.
During Chapter 4 Season 2, players had to shell out 500 gold bars to upgrade an Epic rarity weapon at an Upgrade Bench. Now, this cost has been halved. Given the difficulty in acquiring gold bars in Fortnite, many players hesitate to utilize the Upgrade Bench and exhaust their resources on a weapon that will only benefit them for a single match.
Some gamers have raised the possibility that this could be unintentional, suggesting that Epic Games may have accidentally failed to disable the Bargain Bin week discount for items bought with gold. Nevertheless, other items available for purchase, like those offered by NPCs in Chapter 4 Season 4, have retained their original prices. This seems to suggest that it could be a deliberate and lasting alteration.
Fortnite is currently accessible on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
