After hearing about Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist's divorce, Maria Trice, a contestant from The Golden Bachelor, shared that she doesn't feel bad about being eliminated early in the competition.
In an interview with People on Sunday, April 14, Trice mentioned that she believes she made the right decision. She compared staying in a relationship that doesn't work to wearing uncomfortable shoes and getting painful corns on your toes.
Trice said, "The interesting thing about being at this stage and age is that people always have surprises, even if they try their best to learn everything about each other. I think new things just come up, especially with men."
She mentioned, "I really hope Theresa is happy," describing Nist as "the sweetest." Trice also likened the process of getting to know someone to a dance.
"When we first meet someone, we tend to put our best foot forward and show our ambassador side," she explained. "But as time goes on and we start to see each other's true colors, we may realize that the person we thought we knew isn't who we want to spend the rest of our life with."

Trice reassured Nist that she would find love again, even after things didn't work out with Turner. "I've experienced a lot of genuine love in my life," Trice emphasized. "She has the ability to love again, and even better this time. The most important love is loving yourself, which will attract many positive things."
Turner and Nist announced their split on Good Morning America on Friday, April 12, just three months after their lavish TV wedding. Turner explained that after having several heart-to-heart conversations and closely examining their living situation, they both agreed that it was time to end their marriage for the happiness of each other.
Trice shared her initial thoughts about Turner, mentioning that she didn't initially feel a connection with him. She recalled Nist being very enthusiastic about Turner, describing her desire for him. Trice expressed her belief that after three months, it was clear that it was best for them not to be together anymore.
Trice confessed that she found Turner attractive and thought he was a nice guy. However, she pointed out that it can be difficult to really get to know someone after such a short amount of time.
"After the initial excitement faded and I faced reality, I thought to myself, 'we'll see,'" Trice shared. "When you rush into something, it usually takes about 3-6 months for the novelty to wear off and for you to see the real, unfiltered side of that person."
