Vin Diesel, the star of the "Fast & Furious" franchise, is facing allegations of sexual battery and fostering a hostile work environment in a lawsuit brought by a former assistant. The civil suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by CNN, relates to a 2010 incident in which Diesel's ex-assistant, Asta Jonasson, claims that Diesel made unwanted advances towards her and masturbated in front of her in a hotel suite in Atlanta.
The complaint alleges that Diesel disregarded Jonasson's explicit lack of consent, and despite her screams and attempt to flee to the nearby bathroom, he forcibly pressed her against the wall. CNN has contacted Diesel's representatives and attorneys for a response.
Jonasson is filing a lawsuit against Diesel and his company One Race Productions, as well as Diesel's sister Samantha Vincent, for allegations of sexual battery, creating a hostile work environment, negligent supervision, and wrongful termination, among other claims.
According to Jonasson, Samantha Vincent, who was the president of Diesel's company One Race at the time, allegedly contacted her "mere hours" after the supposed assault and promptly fired her from her position.
The lawsuit is requesting a civil penalty of $10,000 for each violation, along with additional punitive damages. Claire-Lise Kutlay, the attorney for Jonasson from Greenberg Gross LLP, stated, "No one, regardless of fame or power, is exempt from the reach of justice. We hope that her bravery in coming forward will bring about meaningful change and inspire other survivors."
Diesel has featured in over 60 TV and movie productions and is also a producer for the widely successful "Fast & Furious" franchise. He is currently working on multiple upcoming projects, including "Fast X: Part 2."
