Final Fantasy 16's Behemoth Wields God-Like Power
: Valisthea, the setting of Final Fantasy 16, consists of numerous Kingdoms dispersed across its lands. Each Kingdom has established its capital near a mothercrystal, a source of magical energy that humans can tap into. Notably, these mothercrystals grant a special ability to a chosen individual known as a Dominant. Dominants possess the extraordinary capability to harness the powers of formidable beings called Eikons, which are the summons of Final Fantasy 16.By "Priming," Dominants can fully transform into Eikons, allowing them to wield their immense power. Alternatively, they can partially embrace the attributes of an Eikon while retaining their human form through a process called "Semi-Prime." These Dominants, due to their overwhelming strength, are extensively utilized by the Kingdoms of Valisthea during times of international conflict, resulting in widespread devastation. However, Clive, despite being the Dominant of Ifrit, harbors a desire to liberate humanity from the clutches of magic, Eikons, and Dominants. To achieve this, Clive aims to dismantle the mothercrystals of all the Kingdoms, thus heralding the freedom he envisions.
In Final Fantasy 16's endgame, Clive and his brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Phoenix, come across the formidable Drake's Spine - the ultimate mothercrystal. As they near the entrance, they are suddenly faced with a Behemoth, an immensely powerful creature known for its unmatched strength within the Final Fantasy series. However, this particular Behemoth surpasses all its predecessors in sheer might. Exploiting the ambient aether, the Behemoth engages the brothers in battle, effortlessly unleashing some of the most perilous spells to be found in Final Fantasy 16.

Despite having the strength equivalent to several Final Fantasy 16 Eikons, a "Semi-Primed" Clive and Joshua struggle to trade blows with the Behemoth. Just as they begin to make progress, the Behemoth unleashes its devastating spell, "Ecliptic Meteor," capable of causing immeasurable destruction. With Joshua too injured to cast a protective barrier, the brothers find themselves facing certain death. In a desperate attempt to stop the spell, "Semi-Primed" Clive calls upon the power of Ifrit. However, Joshua proposes an alternative solution by placing his hand on Clive's, channeling his Eikonic abilities to enhance his brother's strength. Once the brothers successfully combine their Eikonic powers, they overpower the Meteor and ultimately defeat the Behemoth.

As the story of Final Fantasy 16 unfolds, fans witness Clive and Joshua individually engaging in intense battles with other Dominants and their mighty Eikons. However, Clive's unwavering determination has led him to triumph over every opposing Dominant thus far, absorbing their powers along the way. Nevertheless, he is no match for the awe-inspiring might of the Behemoth. Even Joshua, whose Eikon, the Phoenix, boasts impressive warding abilities, finds himself unable to resist the creature's relentless attacks.
The Behemoth has always been one of the Final Fantasy series' strongest monsters. However, Final Fantasy 16 takes it to the next level. The boss battle at Drake's Head poses a significant challenge for Clive and Joshua, and how they overcome it is crucial to the story. Instead of relying solely on Ifrit's dark energy, Clive chooses to lean on his brother, gaining immense strength in the process. In the end, Clive defeats the game's main antagonist by applying the lessons he learned from battling the Behemoth. Final Fantasy 16 is now available for PS5.
