The parents of the late TikTok star Cooper Noriega, Harold and Treva Noriega, have come forward to speak out following the arrest of two men in connection to their 19-year-old son's death.
Harold announced on social media that after 17 months of hard work and collaboration with the DEA and Burbank Police Department, individuals responsible for the death of Cooper Noriega from fentanyl poisoning have been indicted and arrested. Both are now in custody and being arraigned in Federal court. According to TMZ, one man, Erick Oved Estrada, allegedly ran a drug trafficking operation and was arraigned on federal narcotics charges in connection with a fatal fentanyl overdose. Prosecutors claimed that one of Estrada's associates distributed fentanyl-laced oxycodone to C.N., resulting in the fatal overdose. It is presumed that C.N. refers to Cooper Noriega.
Harold's statement expressed the family's satisfaction that those responsible for their son's death will be held accountable. As we learn more, we will share the information that we are comfortable with, ensuring that everyone has the most current and accurate details. Additionally, we can confirm that Noriega was discovered deceased in a Los Angeles parking lot in June 2022.
Noriega is survived by his parents, Harold and Treva, as well as his sister, Parker Noriega.
In a statement shared days after her brother’s death, Parker expressed gratitude on behalf of their family for the kind words and support. She described his passing as a tragedy for their family and loved ones and expressed the hope that their community can carry on his legacy. Parker also emphasized her brother's love for everyone and invited others to reach out for support. The message concluded with a heartfelt blessing from his sister.
Six months following his passing, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner determined that Noriega's death was due to the combined impact of alprazolam, fentanyl, and lorazepam. Additionally, evidence of recent clonazepam usage was discovered. Prior to his death, the late internet star had been candid about his history of mental illness and substance abuse. In his final days, Noriega established a Discord server for fans to utilize as a supportive platform for discussing their individual struggles.
