The man who recorded Princess Kate Middleton and Prince William's recent outing is addressing the doubts about the authenticity of his video.
"I'm not surprised that these comments are still going on, I'm just puzzled about how they can persist," Nelson Silva told The Sun on Tuesday, March 19. "The video clearly captures her and William. I personally saw them. It was a very casual situation."
Silva found himself at the Windsor Farm Shop on the same day that Kate, 42, and William, 41, made a public appearance on Monday, March 18. It was the first time the Princess of Wales had been seen outside of a car since her recent abdominal surgery. Silva captured a video of the royals strolling through the market, which quickly spread online, sparking various conspiracy theories about the royal couple.
Reflecting on the experience, Silva shared, "I had some time to spare, so I decided to pick up some fresh produce. As I entered the shop, I immediately noticed them standing near the bread aisle." He continued, "I then caught a glimpse of Kate turning her head slightly, and it dawned on me that I recognized her. They moved on to the meat section, with me following closely behind. I observed them chatting with the staff and sharing laughter."
Since the video went viral, Silva was surprised to see online users still talking about Kate.
He mentioned that people from different countries, including the U.K., were invested in the discussion, even though they had never met Kate in person. Some even believed that Kate was a fake person in the video.
Silva found this notion ridiculous and questioned if people would doubt his own authenticity or accuse him of creating a fake Kate.
Before meeting the couple in person, Silva had no idea about the controversy surrounding Kate and her well-being. He mentioned that he took the video at the market to show his family in Portugal, and it was then that they informed him about the ongoing royal drama.
"My family sent me screenshots of the rumors. I was shocked by how far-fetched people's beliefs can be," he said. "A colleague pointed out on Monday, 'Do you realize that video could dispel all the rumors if it was shared publicly?'"
Silva wanted to show everyone that Kate was okay by sharing the video clip. He hoped this would stop the rumors. However, it didn't work out that way.
He was frustrated by people who wouldn't stop spreading rumors about Kate. Silva thought that once he shared the clip, they would finally be quiet. But instead, they seemed even more interested in the drama. They had invested so much time and energy into spreading lies that they couldn't let it go.
Silva expressed sympathy for Kate and William, acknowledging the challenges they are facing regarding her health. He emphasized that despite their royal status, they are ultimately just like any other ordinary individuals.
He shared, "Seeing Kate in that situation really made me realize that they are just two regular human beings. She is a mother who has undergone surgery, and it's important for people to show compassion and not criticize her."
