Picking up from the gripping cliffhanger that left viewers on edge, Episode 3 of Tokyo Revengers: Tenjiku Arc, titled "Run Out Of Patience," delved into the connection between Mikey and Izana, a topic that had been hinted at in previous episodes. While this installment followed the pattern of Season 3 with its mix of exposition and intense emotional moments, it was only in the final moments that action truly took center stage.
However, this may soon be rectified in the upcoming episode of Tokyo Revengers: Tenjiku Arc, once the story has sufficiently developed for the intense battles to become the main focus. Overall, Season 3 of Tokyo Revengers has met expectations in terms of its pacing, stakes, and storytelling quality, and viewers can only hope that this level of excellence will be maintained for the rest of the season. This episode provides several crucial pieces of information that will undoubtedly have significant consequences for Takemichi's efforts to prevent Mikey and the Tokyo Manji Gang from taking a destructive path in the future.
The Consequences Of Naoto's Demise
Following the heart-stopping conclusion of the previous episode, Takemichi and adult Naoto were compelled to clasp hands, allowing the former to once again travel back in time and alter the horrifying predicament they were in. After being gunned down by Kakucho and Kisaki in the present, Takemichi and Naoto found themselves teetering on the edge of death, bleeding profusely in the deserted street with no assistance in sight. This situation undeniably represents the gravest danger the pair have encountered thus far, primarily due to the jeopardy it poses to Takemichi's capacity to leap back in time.
Returning to the past, Takemichi reached out to the younger Naoto, requesting a late-night meeting in order to confirm his suspicions about his friend's potential demise. Unfortunately, his fears were confirmed when he failed, multiple times, to transport back to the present while holding onto Naoto's hand. Realizing that he was now permanently trapped in the past with no way back, Takemichi broke down in tears, mourning Naoto's loss but pledging to save him at any cost.
Regrettably, his determination quickly crumbled as he remembered the countless past failures he had experienced, and he cursed his luck, believing he would fail once again. Just as he thought Naoto was approaching him, Takemichi discovered it was actually Hinata Tachibana, who had overheard his despair-filled confessions about his time-traveling endeavors. Comforting him, Hinata asked if Takemichi, in the future, had proposed to her yet. Caught off guard, Takemichi blurted out that he had been contemplating marrying her, and Hinata interpreted it as a proposal in itself.
Unearthing Sano Shinichiro's Past
To Takemichi's astonishment, Hinata declared that she could now die content. She sat beside him until dawn without inquiring further about time travel, much to his relief. Deep in thought about his purpose, Takemichi realized that his only choice was to persevere and rescue his loved ones. He reaffirmed his determination to defeat Izana and Kisaki, determined to rewrite the future for the better.
On his way back home in the early morning, Takemichi unexpectedly crossed paths with Draken, who was heading to Mikey's house. Without hesitation, Takemichi decided to accompany him. When they arrived at the Sano household, Takemichi was introduced to Mikey's room for the very first time. As they stood there, Draken reminisced about how the room used to be a small shed that Sano Shinichiro, Mikey's older brother, used as his garage. Back then, they would both observe Sano working on motorcycles. As they discussed the recent events to some extent, Mikey recalled encountering Izana earlier but remained unaware of his involvement with the Black Dragon gang.
Despite Takemichi already knowing this, Draken proceeded to explain that Sano Shinichiro founded Black Dragon. Mikey had spoken to Shinichiro about Toman's creation, which was in response to the Ninth Generation Black Dragon's attack on Kazutora Hanemiya. Shinichiro had given Mikey his approval, as he intended for his younger brother to take over Black Dragon.
At that moment, Mikey's younger half-sister, Sano Emma, entered the room with tea for the three of them. When the name Izana Kurokawa was mentioned, Emma revealed that he was her older brother. She admitted to not seeing him for a while but had talked about him with Mikey. She also knew that Shinichiro and Izana had a close relationship and had even discovered a box of letters exchanged between the two of them.
On reviewing their correspondence, Draken discovered that Izana held a deep-seated envy towards Mikey, and instead had an affectionate fondness for Shinichiro. Upon hearing this, Mikey promptly left and hopped onto his bike, while Draken and Takemichi speculated that Izana's animosity towards Mikey may have been the catalyst for the formation of Tenjiku, as well as the devastating attack on the Tokyo Manji Gang carried out by the Ninth Generation Black Dragon many years ago.
A Traitor Within The Ranks?
Equipped with this newfound knowledge, Takemichi convened with Chifuyu and the rest of the Mizo Middle Five. He articulated his desire to confront Kisaki and Izana solo, but faced opposition in return. However, his companions vehemently swore their unwavering allegiance to him. They declared their unwavering support, reassuring him that he need not shoulder the burden alone. They stood by him as not only friends but also as subordinates in the First Division of Toman, ready to lend a helping hand.
After expressing his gratitude and initiating a strategy meeting to address the Tenjiku threat, Takemichi was interrupted by someone calling for the First Division Captain from outside his home. Hastily rushing out, he came face-to-face with Haruchiyo Sanzu, the Vice-Captain of the Fifth Division, accompanied by his Captain Yasuhiro Muto, also known as "Mucho." Surrounded by members of the Fifth Division, Mucho approached Takemichi and relentlessly attacked him, disregarding Takemichi's objections to intra-fighting during wartime.
Mucho proceeded to voice his complaints about being burdened with additional work by Izana, and commanded Sanzu to place Takemichi in their car. Upon awakening in a dimly lit room, Takemichi was confronted once again by Mucho. With a flick of a switch, Mucho illuminated the room, revealing the presence of Seishu Inui and Hajime Kokonoi, who were both bound and confined to chairs.
Much to Takemichi's bewilderment, Mucho proclaimed that every important character was in attendance as the latest episode of Tokyo Revengers: Tenjiku Arc came to a close. Concluding on a thrilling cliffhanger that rivaled the intensity of the previous episode, this third installment of the season has provided answers to numerous questions, yet simultaneously sparked even more inquiries with its heightened level of intrigue and suspense.
