In Foundation season 2, viewers will witness the emergence of the 18th iteration of the Cleon Dynasty, a legendary empire facing a threat from "the Foundation" and Hari Seldon's devoted followers. Returning to Apple TV+ on July 14, the show will introduce new characters and captivating locations from Isaac Asimov's renowned novels. Fans can also look forward to seeing familiar faces including Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, Laura Birn, and more.
The trailers for Foundation season 2 have provided glimpses of the impending storm that Seldon (played by Harris) and his ally Gaal (portrayed by Llobell) had warned about a century ago. As the exiled members of the Foundation gear up to confront the Empire, the Cleons themselves experience a transformative change due to their disconnection from their original genetic line. Day (played by Pace), who stands out as an individual, finds himself entangled with his robot advisor Demerzel (portrayed by Birn) more intensely than ever, even with the approaching first-ever royal wedding within the Empire.

: Rewriting Character Dynamics, the Cleon Dynasty, and Old Characters in Foundation Season 2Screen Rant: The Brother Day we encounter at the initiation of season 2 exhibits a remarkable contrast compared to the previous season - his divergence extending even to a genetic plane. Can you elaborate on your approach to this distinct incarnation of Brother Day?
Lee Pace: Correct, he is an individual. He takes great pleasure in embracing his uniqueness. While observing the Cleons, I discovered that they hold deep value in everlasting permanence. It's fascinating to see how his growing ego as a Cleon drives him towards forging his own path instead of following the predetermined one.
He is determined to live life on his own terms. He intends to make decisions according to his own desires, and he even plans to break the genetic dynasty by marrying and creating an heir. I must admit, I had a great time exploring this character this year. I found a lot of humor in his savage and primitive nature.
I did not anticipate the kind of relationship we are witnessing between the two of you this season. Laura, to what extent does Demerzel distinguish between Day and Empire, if at all?
Lee Pace: Seems like she couldn't resist touching you. She really couldn't.
Laura Birn: Juggling multiple responsibilities can be quite complex. She not only has to look after the boys, but also raise them and impart her knowledge to them in her unique way...
Lee Pace: The task of work is never-ending.
Laura Birn takes on the challenging task of controlling these individuals in the demanding Cleon 18th. To ensure the survival of this particular man, she must resort to extreme measures. With a clear mission in mind, there are numerous avenues she can explore to accomplish her objective. Here, we witness just one of those approaches. Additionally, Lee Pace's character witnesses the presence of approximately four or five individuals undergoing similar processes.
The mention of marriage and Sareth being the queen of my heart has a significant impact on both of you and your relationship. The Cleons and Demerzel don't have many friends and don't interact with many other people. When Sareth enters their lives, it becomes evident that he is unable to have physical intimacy with anyone else as he is only capable of it with her.
I think he starts to question, "What have you done to me? What is happening here?" And I believe it is time to cease such actions, as I am transitioning into the person I want to become now. In fact, I no longer desire to be the person I once was. It seems that he is tormented in his own way, engaged in a futile struggle because his ego blinds him to certain realities. He fails to acknowledge that perhaps he is not the protagonist of this narrative. Maybe someone else is. Perhaps he is actually on the wrong side of this.
