Netflix has recently introduced a captivating new supernatural series from Paramount+ called School Spirits – but what exactly is it about?
Teen drama series set in high school have long been beloved guilty pleasures, with countless hits over the years. From Elite and Derry Girls to Heartstopper and Sex Education, these shows are a must-see. And now, Netflix has added a popular series from Paramount+ that fits right into this genre.
"School Spirits made its original debut on Paramount+ with weekly episodes airing from March to April. Following Netflix's acquisition of the series, School Spirits has experienced significant success. Despite being available on both Paramount+ and Netflix, eager fans are already clamoring for a second season. Curious about the new hit series? Here's everything you need to know about School Spirits."
School Spirits is a murder mystery
Peyton List of Cobra Kai fame takes on the lead role of Maddie Nears in School Spirits, portraying a high school student who finds herself trapped in purgatory after dying.
Netflix viewers can enjoy an entertaining series with eight episodes of School Spirits, following Maddie's transformation from a typical teenager to a victim of abduction and murder. Now invisible and stranded in limbo, Maddie is determined to uncover the truth behind her death in order to find a way out, including identifying her killer.
She seeks assistance from other wandering spirits at Split River High, but tensions rise as Maddie's memory of the events becomes unclear and more potential suspects emerge, increasing the danger. The School Spirits cast includes Thanksgiving star Milo Manheim as Wally Clark, Kristian Ventura as Simon Elroy, Kiara Pichardo as Nicole Herrera, Spencer Macpherson as Xaviery Baxter, Texas Chainsaw Massacre star Sarah Yarkin, and Nick Pugliese.
If fans of the Netflix series fall in love with it, they can rest assured that Paramount+ has approved School Spirits Season 2. It is uncertain whether Netflix will also have the rights to the new season.
Shauna Phelan and Zack Olin, executive vice presidents and co-heads at Nickelodeon and Awesomeness live-action series and films, said, “Maddie’s quest to unravel the truth behind her mysterious disappearance has resonated with viewers, and we can’t wait to continue this thrilling journey with them.”

As a Gen Z fan, I am excited about the release of School Spirits on Netflix. I love teen drama series, and this one has a supernatural twist that I find intriguing. The plot, which revolves around a young teen trapped in purgatory after her untimely death, sounds like it will be full of suspense and mystery. I can't wait to find out what happened to Maddie and who killed her.
I also appreciate that the show will explore the theme of purgatory. I'm not sure what I believe about the afterlife, but I'm always interested in seeing different interpretations of it. I think it's a fascinating concept to explore, and I'm sure School Spirits will do a great job of it.
Overall, I'm really looking forward to watching School Spirits. It looks like it will be a fun and exciting show that will keep me entertained from start to finish.
