Highlights

A September Nintendo Direct is reportedly scheduled for next week, following the last one in August.

The next broadcast is anticipated to showcase a broader range of Nintendo's exclusive games compared to the previous one, which solely highlighted Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

The speculated presentation might consist of upcoming releases like Super Mario RPG, Detective Pikachu Returns, and WarioWare: Move It.

According to a recent report, a Nintendo Direct for September 2023 is scheduled to take place next week. Speculation arose that Nintendo might deviate from their usual September broadcast after the last Direct in August. However, an insider in the industry quickly dismissed this idea, hinting that there could be an earlier release of another Nintendo Direct. This theory is supported by the fact that the August presentation mainly focused on Super Mario Bros. Wonder, suggesting that the September broadcast will encompass a broader range of Nintendo's first-party titles, making it a more significant event for the late summer season.

Further substantiating the previous rumor, Portuguese media outlet Universo Nintendo has now reported that another Nintendo Direct is set to take place next week. Citing sources with knowledge of the matter, the exact date of the alleged event remains uncertain; however, the report suggests that it will occur during the following workweek, spanning from September 11th to September 15th. In line with this claim, it is likely that if a broadcast is scheduled for Monday, confirmation would be provided no later than Friday, September 8th. It is worth noting that Nintendo typically announces such events a few days in advance, avoiding weekend announcements.

Tuesday and Thursday are more likely to be chosen for this month's Nintendo Direct. This is because seven out of the last ten September presentations from the gaming giant were held on one of those days. The only exception was a Wednesday presentation in 2019. It would be a major deviation from the norm if Nintendo doesn't hold a Direct in September, as the last time they missed this opportunity was back in 2015.

If this pattern continues, the showcase for this month is expected to include the remake of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, which will be released on the Switch on November 17. Detective Pikachu Returns and WarioWare: Move It are also likely to be featured, with release dates of October 6 and November 3, respectively. It is less probable for Super Mario Bros. Wonder to be included, as it already had its own Nintendo Direct last week. Additionally, the first part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet might already be available by the time Nintendo holds its next showcase, as it is set to release on September 13.

Until this week, fans of Tears of the Kingdom held onto hope that Nintendo's late summer Nintendo Direct would bring news of DLC for its latest Zelda game. Unfortunately, a senior company official has dashed those hopes with some disappointing news.
