A new five-star character named Lyney is rumored to arrive in the upcoming Fontaine region of Genshin Impact, as revealed by a recent leak. Interestingly, Lyney's appearance was actually teased way back in 2020 in one of the game's first story teasers. As the release of a new major region in the game is just around the corner, fans can expect to see a lot of new faces join the playable roster. According to HoYoverse's usual update schedule, Travelers can expect Fontaine to arrive in the second half of August.
A recent leak regarding Genshin Impact has addressed previous rumors about the potential appearance of Lyney on the Standard Character Banner. Unlike the limited banner, the Standard Banner is permanent and offers seven different characters that can be obtained by spending Acquaint Fates. After version 3.0, the Dendro character Tignari was introduced and joined the Standard Banner. This led many players to speculate that the upcoming Fontaine update would also feature a new character who would eventually appear on the Standard Banner. However, according to a post on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit, Lyney will only be available on the Limited Character Banner.
Previous rumors suggest that Lyney will be a Pyro bow character with damage numbers similar to Tignhnari and Ganyu. His last constellation level will significantly impact his overall playstyle. Additionally, his sister Lynette will be an Anemo character who can summon different Anemo spirits that remain on the field for 10 seconds, even if she gets taken off the field.
Players can anticipate the arrival of both these characters in the upcoming Fontaine update. Another character, Charlotte, has been officially introduced in the recent 3.7 live stream event. While HoYoverse didn't reveal much information about her, recent Genshin Impact leaks have given fans a glimpse of what they can expect.
The Hydro Archon Focalors, a highly anticipated character, is expected to join the roster in update 4.1. HoYoverse has a pattern of featuring new Archons on the Limited Character Banner in one or two updates after a new major region arrives. According to various rumors, Focalors' kit will allow her to manipulate gravity in ways that could lead to unique interactions within certain team compositions.
Genshin Impact is available on mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5 with a Switch version also in development.
