Fortnite is rumored to have a collaboration with WWE, potentially bringing more skins of popular WWE Superstars to the game.
Fortnite has long included professional wrestling skins, including a dedicated skin for John Cena. On Instagram, WWE teased a collaboration with Fortnite through images of Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair using Fortnite pickaxes.
Fortnite's potential collaboration with WWE may introduce new skins of popular WWE Superstars to the game. Fortnite is known for partnering with major media organizations, including WWE. One year ago, John Cena, a former pro wrestler turned actor, received his own Fortnite skin. The WWE has dropped hints suggesting that a Fortnite announcement is forthcoming, indicating the possible release of more skins. Professional wrestling skins are already available in Fortnite, such as John Cena's skin, which was launched on July 29, 2022, and included the WWE Championship Title and the U Can't C Me emote. Prior to John Cena's addition, Fortnite released a set of luchador skins called the Lucha Set in mid-2018, featuring the Dynamo luchadora and Masked Fury luchador skins. Fortnite has always incorporated elements of pro wrestling into its content.
A second wave of WWE skins seems to be on the horizon, according to an official source. On Monday, the official WWE Instagram account posted two photos showcasing Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair. Both WWE Superstars were seen wielding Fortnite pickaxes. Lynch held the Rainbow Smash axe, while Belair had the Party Animal Slurp keg pickaxe. The Instagram post hinted that the two wrestlers were preparing for something big.
If that wasn't enough evidence of an imminent WWE collaboration, there's another important detail in the Instagram post. It is clearly identified as a "Paid Partnership" and includes the "#ad" hashtag, as required by Instagram for sponsored content. In other words, WWE is indicating that these photos are part of a marketing campaign that extends beyond the WWE brand itself. It appears that Epic Games' Fortnite is the marketing partner in this endeavor.
Fortnite and WWE fans have been anticipating a potential series of new skins for the battle royale. In March, datamining revealed references to a female WWE skin in Fortnite's shop files, including associated files for a back bling and pickaxe. Speculation among WWE fans suggested that it could be Becky Lynch. Now, it has been confirmed that both Lynch and Bianca Belair will be added to Fortnite. Official announcement from Epic Games is yet to be made, but WWE is already promoting the collaboration, indicating that an announcement is imminent. It remains to be seen if there will be more WWE skins released or if the partnership will extend beyond skins. WWE fans will have to wait and find out.
Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
