Exciting Updates on Stranger Things Season 5 Filming Unveil Surprising Reactions

Stranger Things Season 5 begins filming, but fans express concerns over a prominent star, leading to talk of potential boycott

Filming for Season 5 of Stranger Things has officially begun, sparking excitement among fans. However, concerns have been raised by viewers about one of the show's stars. Since its 2016 debut, Stranger Things has remained a popular show on Netflix, with Season 4 attracting record-breaking numbers of viewers.

As Season 5 is approaching as the conclusion with the aging cast moving on to new projects, excitement is growing. This anticipation is heightened by the actors' and writers' strikes, which resulted in production delays. With the end in sight, fans are eager to return to the Upside Down for one final journey - but some would prefer to do so without one of the cast members.

Stranger Things starts filming but fans threaten to “boycott” Season 5

As filming for Stranger Things Season 5 is in progress, Noah Schnapp has faced significant criticism for his remarks on the Israel/Hamas conflict. Many individuals have expressed their intention to boycott the final installment unless he is removed from the show.

In November of last year, the actor who plays Will Byers found himself in the midst of a controversy when an Instagram Story surfaced showing him laughing with friends in a coffee shop, passing around stickers that read "Zionism is sexy" and "Hamas is Isis".

@gomezquality tweeted on November 13, 2023 that despite addressing the humanitarian crisis, Netflix has not taken any action yet. There were reports that Netflix was "keeping an eye on" Schnapp, which led to comparisons with Melissa Barrera's removal from Scream 7 after discussing the situation in Gaza, and Rachel Zegler's comments about Snow White.

The backlash continues, with recent news that filming for Stranger Things Season 5 has begun. Discussing Film tweeted about the news on January 6, stating: “The final season of Stranger Things has begun filming.”

However, the comments section is flooded with threats to boycott the series and demands for Netflix to kill off Will in the first episode. One commenter stated: “Noah Schnapp is in it so we don’t want it.” Another accompanied an image of Will Byers with the words: “Leave this guy at home.”

"Eliminate Will in the opening episode," suggested one person, while another recommended, "In the opening minutes, please," and yet another suggested, "Within the first few seconds." Another viewer asked, "Allow Noah to survive the first episode, please and thank you."

In a different comment, one fan urged others to "boycott," while another expressed, "No one would be interested in anything featuring Noah Schnapp."

As a Gen Z netizen, I am excited about the upcoming Stranger Things Season 5, but I am also concerned about the controversy surrounding Noah Schnapp. I understand that his comments on the Israel/Hamas conflict have offended many people, and I believe that it is important to address these concerns. However, I also believe that it is important to separate the art from the artist, and I do not think that Schnapp's personal views should affect the enjoyment of the show.

I think that Netflix should take action to address the controversy, but I do not think that they should remove Schnapp from the show. Instead, I think that they should issue a statement condemning his comments and making it clear that they do not support his views. I also think that Schnapp should apologize for his comments and take steps to educate himself about the conflict.
