Overwatch 2's upcoming fifth season, set to launch on June 13, will showcase a fantasy theme that diverges sharply from the previous space opera motif. As Blizzard unveils fresh trailers and announcements for the forthcoming season, players are eagerly anticipating the mythic Tracer skin that will be featured in the next battle pass. Yet, despite the excitement over the new content, the game is not without its challenges. The recent controversy surrounding Blizzard's decision to halt the development of PvE components promised in the 2019 Rio de Janeiro game demo has left many fans disillusioned. Additionally, concerns have been raised over controversial patch notes that one-shot characters and the reintroduction of crowd control (CC), slated for release in the coming days. As such, the state of Overwatch 2 may be a cause for concern for some.
Overwatch 2's New Mythic Skin Shows Promise
The Overwatch 2 roadmap promises exciting content for players in Seasons 5 through 7, including a highly anticipated Mythic skin for Tracer in the upcoming season. While past tier 80 skins like Kiriko's Amaterasu were initially well-received, players often lost interest in them once they had unlocked their preferred design. Blizzard seems to be addressing this issue in Season 5 with a new approach that aims to make the game feel more dynamic and engaging.
Blizzard has announced that Tracer's Adventurer skin will have a base model unlocked at tier 45, an intermediate variation at tier 65, and the complete skin at tier 80 of the battle pass. However, some players have expressed concern that this may mean fewer skins for other characters in the future. Alongside the Mythic Tracer skin, Season 5 will also feature a Demon Lord Reinhardt skin, reminiscent of designs from Diablo 4, as well as new skins for Genji and Orisa. Fans are speculating that Demon Lord Reinhardt may be a shop-exclusive skin with a limited time to obtain, similar to other exclusive skins in the past.
Players eagerly await more details about Overwatch 2 Season 5, which is set to begin in just four days. Fans anticipate the release of additional fantasy-themed cosmetics for DPS and support characters. Meanwhile, players can take advantage of the current Double XP bonus while completing the Season 4 battle pass. Overwatch 2 is currently available on multiple platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
