HoYoverse is providing Genshin Impact players with a glimpse into what they can expect in the second half of Version 4.0. The latest update for this immensely popular RPG was one of the largest of the year, introducing players to the vibrant Hydro region of Fontaine. In addition to three new characters, the inclusion of Fontaine brought forth exciting gameplay elements such as the Pneuma and Ousia combat mechanics, as well as underwater areas to explore. Now, the second half of the update will kick off a variety of events.
The first half of Version 4.0 primarily focused on familiarizing players with Genshin Impact's newest region through its compelling story and events. The Archon Quest of the region unveiled significant themes centered around justice, Fontaine's court system, and its notable characters. Some events in the first half required players to gather specific items from the region in exchange for rewards, delve into Fontaine's mysterious underwater chasms, and engage in battles with new adversaries. Now, Version 4.0's second half will encompass a range of activities, from challenging combat trials to a photography event.
Genshin Impact's social media accounts have released an official preview that provides players with a detailed overview of the events that will take place during the latter half of Version 4.0. The first event, "Verdict of Blades," will be introduced by HoYoverse on September 4th and will immerse players in challenging combat scenarios that offer various rewards, including Primogems. The second event, "Studies in Light and Shadow," invites players to utilize a special Kamera to capture photographs of different landscapes in Fontaine. Version 4.0's latter half will also include an "Ley Line Overflow" event and a thrilling "Heated Battle" challenge exclusively for Genius Invokation TCG enthusiasts.
In addition, Version 4.0's latter half will welcome the return of two highly sought-after five-star characters in Genshin Impact's gacha banner. Zhongli and Tartaglia, both beloved characters among players, are confirmed to make a comeback on September 5th. Zhongli has long been acknowledged as one of Genshin Impact's most potent support characters, while Tartaglia plays a significant role in Fontaine's captivating narrative. Alongside their return, the re-run banners will unveil Freminet, a new four-star character and the younger brother of Lyney and Lynette.
As Genshin Impact's first region update nears its end, players are already anticipating Version 4.1. HoYoverse has confirmed that two new characters, Fontaine's chief justice Neuvillette and Fortress of Meropide administrator Wriothesley, will make their debut in the upcoming update. Additionally, rumors suggest that the update will include the first expansion to Fontaine, allowing players to explore the Fortress of Meropide. With exciting new events and characters on the horizon, Genshin Impact players have much to anticipate.
