Only Murders in the Building has started filming season 4, and Selena Gomez recently shared a sneak peek with her costars Steve Martin and Martin Short. Gomez, 31, posted a photo on her Instagram Story on Friday, March 1. In the snapshot, she is seen smiling while sitting in a chair covered with a blanket. Martin, 78, and Short, 73, sat beside her, playfully pretending to shiver, with three electric heaters placed in front of each actor. An empty chair labeled "guest" was placed next to Gomez.
Season 3 of OMITB continued with the podcast gang investigating the murder of actor Ben Glenroy in Oliver's Broadway play-turned-musical. Donna and Cliff, the play's producers, were arrested for poisoning and killing Ben. The group celebrated the success of Oliver's show and solving the murder, with Charles' friend Sazz joining them.
Sazz tells Charles she needs to speak with him privately. While waiting in his apartment, she is tragically shot by someone who mistook her for Charles.

According to show creator John Hoffman, the last few scenes of season 3 were intentionally set up to lead into season 4. Hoffman hinted that season 3 included some subtle hints about the latest murder.
In an interview with TVLine in October 2023, Hoffman mentioned that they had planted clues throughout the season. He highlighted a scene in episode 10 where Sazz hinted at something important and wanted to discuss it privately.
Hoffman also revealed that Lynch, aged 63, would have a more significant role in season 4. He teased that Sazz had something on her mind, possibly hinting at vital information in the final shot of the season.
Mabel (Gomez), Charles, and Oliver, after solving three murders in previous seasons, still have more mysteries to uncover. Hoffman confirmed that while season 4 will be connected to past seasons in important ways, it will bring a sense of excitement and freshness.
In an exclusive interview with We in October 2023, Hoffman shared, "[It is] something we haven’t done before. So I’m excited about that." He emphasized the rarity and joy of working on the show, stating that there is a unique opportunity in season 4 to explore new ideas and storylines.
The Only Murders crew will be moving from New York City to Los Angeles, as confirmed by ABC TV President Craig Erwich in February 2024. He expressed his excitement about Steve, Martin, and Selena taking a break from the apartment building and coming to Los Angeles. Erwich mentioned how John Hoffman used Broadway as a canvas for a unique season, and now the same unique approach will be applied to Los Angeles.
Fans can look forward to seeing exciting guest stars in the upcoming season, such as Molly Shannon, Eva Longoria, and Eugene Levy.
