Larian Studios has released the eighth hot fix update for Baldur's Gate 3, which includes a highly requested change to the fan favorite character, His Majesty the cat. Since its full release in August, Baldur's Gate 3 has seen great success in terms of sales and popularity for Larian Studios. Despite a lengthy early access period, the studio has remained dedicated to improving the game through regular updates and hot fixes, enhancing the overall player experience.

However, the process of patching the game is not always smooth, particularly for a game that encourages players to approach objectives and quests in various ways. The recent Patch 3 for Baldur's Gate 3 reportedly introduced several bugs and issues, ranging from minor inconveniences to major game-breaking problems. In response, Larian promptly addressed these issues and released a new hot fix that not only resolves many of these problems, but also provides additional quality of life updates for the popular RPG.

Larian announced Hotfix 8 for Baldur's Gate 3 via their social media account (formerly known as Twitter). This update includes various changes and updates that address crashes and issues. Notably, the hotfix reverts the behavior of companions to how they were in Patch 2. When dismissed, party members will no longer transfer all story items to the player's inventory. The patch also contains numerous crash fixes. Additionally, Hotfix 8 brings changes to the beloved Baldur's Gate cat, His Majesty. Initially appearing as a Sphynx, the cat was later given hair in a more traditional style. This sparked a community debate, resulting in many requests for Larian to revert His Majesty back to its original shaved appearance. With Hotfix 8, the cat once again appears as a typical Sphynx.

With the latest update addressing the concerns of His Majesty, Larian has unequivocally displayed its commitment to actively listening to its players. Notably, Patch 3 encompasses a highly anticipated addition known as the Magic Mirror, empowering players of Baldur's Gate 3 with the ability to modify their character's appearance even after the initial creation. Although certain aspects remain unchangeable, the Magic Mirror serves as a valuable tool for those wishing to refine overall aesthetics, alter pronouns, and even adjust their character's voice.
