Traditionally known as a major platform for major announcements from industry giants like Marvel Studios, DC Studios, and Lucasfilm, this year has seen several studios withdraw from the event due to strikes by the Writer's Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA. Marvel was the first to announce their absence, with Netflix, Disney, HBO, Sony, and Universal soon following suit.

Nevertheless, San Diego Comic-Con 2023 will still offer a range of exciting panels from July 20-23.
