Despite the uncertainties and challenges faced by Hollywood in terms of equitable treatment for its creators, the 2023 line-up for San Diego Comic-Con is pushing forward, albeit on a smaller scale. Traditionally known as a major platform for major announcements from industry giants like Marvel Studios, DC Studios, and Lucasfilm, this year has seen several studios withdraw from the event due to strikes by the Writer's Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA. Marvel was the first to announce their absence, with Netflix, Disney, HBO, Sony, and Universal soon following suit.

Nevertheless, San Diego Comic-Con 2023 will still offer a range of exciting panels from July 20-23. In addition to attending many of these panels, Screen Rant will host a special media room where they will interview the creatives behind the showcased projects and moderate panels. Below, you can find the complete schedule of panels that will proceed as planned, as well as those that have been confirmed as cancelled due to the strikes affecting actors and writers.

6 — 9:30 p.m.: Warner Bros. Television is hosting their annual Preview Night in Ballroom 20. The event will showcase the highly anticipated series Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, along with new episodes of Riverdale and Teen Titans Go!. Attendees will also have the opportunity to watch screenings of Mrs. Davis and Superpowered: The DC Story.

6:15 p.m.: FUNKO will be hosting their special Funkoville presentation for press, during which they will preview exclusive SDCC products across all of their brands.

Thursday, July 20

11:00 a.m. — 12:30 p.m.: Join Max Original Animation in celebrating their new and returning animated shows. The event will feature the showrunner Adam Muto and supervising director Ryann Shannon of Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake, along with Matthew A. Cherry, the creator of the animated spinoff show Young Love based on the Oscar-winning short Hair Love, and supervising director Mark Davis. Additionally, there will be a special preview of Harley Quinn season 4 with supervising producers Cecilia Aranovich and Ian Hamilton. The Max Original Animation panel, moderated by Damian Holbrook from TV Guide Magazine, will take place in Ballroom 20.

11:30 a.m. — 12:30 p.m.: Paramount Pictures presents the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem panel. Be among the first to see exclusive footage from the animated movie reboot and engage in a panel discussion with the talented filmmakers (filmmakers' names to be announced). 12:45 — 1:45 p.m.: Join CBS & Paramount+ at SDCC for an exciting presentation panel on the popular supernatural sitcom Ghosts. Every Major SDCC Panel Cancelled

In late June, Marvel Studios confirmed that they would not be hosting their usual Hall H presentation. Speculation suggests that this decision might be due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which have resulted in production and release delays for several of their upcoming projects.

Shortly after, Disney, Lucasfilm, HBO, Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, and Netflix withdrew from participating in SDCC panels due to the imminent SAG-AFTRA strike. A panel for the BTS cast of Amazon Freevee's Jury Duty was also affected.
