Colman Domingo responded to criticism about the working conditions on the set of Euphoria by raising concerns about the "work ethic" of some of the show's young cast. The series gained popularity after its 2019 debut on HBO, captivating audiences with its mature themes and propelling its young cast to stardom.

But at the time Season 2 was released, issues arose behind the scenes. Complaints from cast and crew about working conditions and criticisms of long hours and showrunner Sam Levinson's creative process surfaced. When promoting his new movie Rustin, Colman Domingo, who portrays recovering drug addict Ali Muhammed on the show, shares a contrasting tale about the series' production.

Euphoria star criticizes “work ethic” of young cast

Colman Domingo was unfazed by the working conditions on Euphoria and quickly shifted the blame onto the younger members of the cast when questioned about any potential concerns.

"I don't want to diminish anyone's experience," Domingo tells The Independent. "But working in television requires long hours. There are days when you work up to 14 hours, and then you have to go home and prepare for the next day. It's important to live and work in a very disciplined way. Many young actors may not be ready for this or may not have the same level of work ethic."

"I've been in this industry for 32 years," he continues. "I know what hard work looks like. So when I heard those 'reports' [using air quotes], I thought, 'where is this coming from? That's just a typical work day. Be a professional.'"

When does Euphoria return?

To conclude, Domingo states: "There’s no one that’s going to mistreat you on the set of Euphoria. Sam Levinson is joyful, and collaborative, and could not be a bigger advocate for his actors."

Euphoria has completed two seasons, leaving fans eagerly anticipating Season 3. However, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the return of Euphoria has been delayed until 2025, along with several other movies and shows. Additionally, Barbie Ferreira, who portrayed Kat Fernandez, will not be returning following rumored conflicts with Sam Levinson. Her announcement was made on social media.

"After four incredible years portraying the unique and mysterious character Kat, it's with a heavy heart that I must bid her farewell. I hope that many of you were able to relate to her as I did, and that her journey brought you joy as she evolved into the character she is today. I poured all of my care and love into her, and I hope you could feel it. Much love, Katherine Hernandez."

Editor's P/S

As a Euphoria fan, I am concerned about the working conditions on the set of the show. The long hours and demanding creative process have been cited as issues by cast and crew members. I worry that these conditions may be taking a toll on the young cast members, who may not be fully prepared for the rigors of working on a hit TV show.

I am also concerned about the recent departure of Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Fernandez on the show. Ferreira has cited conflicts with showrunner Sam Levinson as the reason for her exit. This suggests that there may be deeper issues at play on the set of Euphoria that need to be addressed. I hope that HBO and the show's producers will take steps to improve working conditions and create a more positive and supportive environment for the cast and crew.
