A new trailer has been revealed for the upcoming anime, Solo Leveling, set to air on Crunchyroll. The fantasy series now has a release timeframe and will be included in the streaming service's Winter season lineup, promising an exciting start to the new year for anime fans. Solo Leveling originally started as a web novel by Chugong in 2018 and has since been adapted into a webcomic. Yen Press, a renowned publisher of manga and light novels, has obtained the licensing rights for an English release. A-1 Pictures, the acclaimed Japanese animation studio behind Fairy Tail, Sword Art Online, and Lycoris Recoil, among others, is now adapting the South Korean series into an anime.
On Instagram, sololeveling_en and Crunchyroll shared the series' latest trailer, announcing a January 2024 release date. The video offers a sneak peek into the show's captivating world and provides an extensive introduction to its main character, Sung Jin-Woo, who has been renamed Mizushino Shun. As a low-rated hunter and deemed one of the weakest, Sung Jin-Woo faces numerous formidable enemies. However, the trailer hints at his "second awakening," a life-altering event that is set to occur. If the anime remains faithful to the source material, Sung Jin-Woo will be chosen to possess a special ability, leading him to venture into dungeons alone. As a result, he becomes a "solo leveler," no longer relying on a larger party like before.
Solo Leveling's Anime Premieres January 2024
After the disastrous dungeon encounter showcased in the trailer, Mizushino Shun - a hunter - may acquire a special battle ability of his own. Despite his weaknesses, his unwavering determination and relentless pursuit to forge ahead make him an easily likable protagonist. Drawing inspiration from isekai anime series like Sword Art Online and other fantastical tales featuring treacherous dungeons, Solo Leveling has the potential to become a magnificent addition to Crunchyroll's ever-expanding collection, provided it lives up to the beloved art and captivating narrative of the original web novel.
The Solo Leveling anime adaptation is being helmed by Shunsuke Nakashige, known for directing Sword Art Online. Series writer Noboru Kimura, who has contributed to various successful series like Gundam Build Divers and Dragonar Academy, is on board. Hiroyuki Sawano, acclaimed for his music composition in Attack on Titan, The Seven Deadly Sins, and Blue Exorcist, is scoring the music. With Nakashige's previous experience as an animator for Sailor Moon Crystal and High School DxD, Solo Leveling is in good hands.
Fans of the tremendously popular Solo Leveling web novel are eagerly awaiting this anime adaptation, which is already generating significant excitement for its release in 2024. With a stellar team of talent behind it, Crunchyroll may have a potential hit on their hands with Solo Leveling's anime adaptation.
Solo Leveling will release on Crunchyroll in January 2024.
