Enola Holmes 2 lays the foundation for boundless opportunities, as Enola embarks on her journey as a detective. The immense popularity of Millie Bobby Brown and the limitless potential of the franchise generate great anticipation for Enola Holmes 3.
Netflix has officially announced that Enola Holmes 3 is in development. The film, which features Millie Bobby Brown as the titular character and sister of Sherlock Holmes, premiered on Netflix in 2020. Following its success, a sequel, Enola Holmes 2, was released in 2022, sparking rumors of a third installment. Head of Netflix Film, Scott Stuber, has now confirmed the progress of Enola Holmes 3. In an interview with Collider, Stuber praised Brown as a talented actor and revealed that the screenplay for the third film is currently being worked on.
Why Enola Holmes 3 Is An Exciting Sherlock Holmes Spinoff
She is a remarkable local star for us, no doubt. Stranger Things has been a massive success for her, and witnessing her growth as an actress has been truly inspiring. We are eagerly anticipating the release of Damsel, a film she stars in this spring, directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. Our main focus now is to portray her character perfectly. The Holmes intellectual property is remarkably versatile. Warner Bros. did an outstanding job with Downey and Jude Law, so the prospect of expanding that intellectual property with her is exhilarating. Therefore, we are once again working on a screenplay to make that possible. Aspirations aside, it would be great to create another installment.
While the details of Enola Holmes 3 are still being worked out, Enola Holmes 2 has certainly set the stage for a potential sequel. Now that Enola has established herself as a detective, the possibilities for Enola Holmes 3 are endless. There could be numerous mysteries for Enola to tackle, as hinted at by Stuber's description of the Holmes franchise as "weirdly elastic."
Enola Holmes arrived when other popular Sherlock adaptations were coming to an end. The BBC series Sherlock, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, concluded after its fourth season in 2017 with only 15 episodes. Similarly, the Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law version of Sherlock Holmes had its sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows in 2011, but the anticipated follow-up is still pending. Enola Holmes not only filled a void in the Holmesian world but also offered a fresh and youthful perspective on the franchise.
As Enola Holmes 3 progresses, Brown is now an even more established star compared to when the series began. With her popularity and the potential for new directions in the franchise, exciting opportunities lie ahead for Enola Holmes 3.
Every Sherlock Holmes story written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle entered the public domain in 2023.

I am thrilled to hear that Enola Holmes 3 has been greenlit by Netflix. I am a big fan of the Enola Holmes series, and I think it is a great way to introduce new audiences to the world of Sherlock Holmes. Millie Bobby Brown is an excellent actress, and she brings Enola to life in a way that is both charming and inspiring. I am excited to see what new adventures Enola will get into in the third film.
I also appreciate that the films are set in the late 1800s, as it is a time of great change and upheaval for women. Enola is a young woman who is determined to make her own way in the world, and she is an excellent role model for young girls. I think the Enola Holmes films are a great way to show girls that they can be anything they want to be.
