At the premiere of her movie Poor Things in New York City on December 6, 35-year-old Emma Stone neither confirmed nor denied whether Taylor Swift's song "When Emma Falls in Love" was written about her, despite Swift's numerous songs about celebrities throughout her career.
Stone told Entertainment Tonight that fans would have to ask Taylor about the song "When Emma Falls in Love," released in July as a vault track from her rerecorded album Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). Swift, 33, was later seen supporting her friend at the premiere, further fueling speculation about their longtime bond.
In the chorus, Swift expresses her desire to be someone else, singing, “I wish I was her,” sparking memories of a 2011 interview where she admired Emma Stone, describing her as a close friend and wishing she could embody Stone's humor for just a day.
Speculation among fans suggested that the lyrics "She waits and takes her time / 'Cause Little Miss Sunshine always thinks it's gonna rain" may be a nod to a scene from Stone's 2010 film, Easy A, in which her character sings along to Natasha Bedingfield's "Pocketful of Sunshine."
For the premiere of her latest movie, Stone wore a pale yellow Louis Vuitton gown. The gown featured a sheer design with a plunging neckline, spaghetti straps, lacy details, rhinestone embellishments, and a stunning train. She completed the look with delicate gold rings, a sparkly floral choker, and strappy heels.
Stone elegantly arranged her reddish-brown hair to one side for the event on Wednesday, wearing it in a relaxed updo. Her makeup showcased a subtle and radiant look, including a dewy foundation, groomed eyebrows, dark eyeliner, and pink lipstick.
Meanwhile, Swift turned heads at the premiere in a luxurious Charlotte Simone coat and a sleek black dress.
During a June interview with Vanity Fair, Stone discussed her enduring friendship with Swift, reflecting on their connection from the time they attended Swift’s Eras Tour.
"She's been a great friend since we were young," Stone said of Swift. "I've known her since we were 17 and 18. The concert was truly incredible."

The pair first crossed paths in 2008 at the Young Hollywood Awards and have maintained a strong bond ever since. Three years later, Stone disclosed that she had the opportunity to listen to Swift's Speak Now album before its official release. "I was fortunate enough to hear it quite early on, so it's incredibly thrilling to finally own the songs instead of just constantly singing them in my head," she shared with MTV News at the time.
