The Bloodstone season of Marvel Snap brings exciting new content for players to enjoy, such as fresh cards, variants, and locations that will have a significant impact on gameplay. Among these additions, the Season Pass card Elsa Bloodstone stands out as a potentially meta-defining card. Elsa Bloodstone is a 2-Cost/2-Power card that grants +3 Power if it occupies a location. While many Marvel Snap players will likely want to include this powerful card in their decks, it is important to consider the drawbacks that come with using Elsa Bloodstone.
In addition to the notable collaboration with Marvel's Midnight Suns and the Elsa Bloodstone Season Pass card, the Bloodstone season of Marvel Snap introduces several other cards that should not be overlooked. These include Man-Thing, Black Knight, Nico Minoru, and Werewolf By Night. While these cards possess their own unique strengths, it is Elsa Bloodstone who appears to hold the most potential to revolutionize gameplay this season. There are certainly strategic applications for Elsa Bloodstone within the Marvel Snap meta; however, careful consideration of her limitations is necessary to prevent her from becoming overly dominant.
The Pros of Using Marvel Snap's Elsa Bloodstone
Elsa Bloodstone is a versatile 2-Cost card that fits well in various Marvel Snap decks, as she does not consume excessive Energy. One particularly effective deck archetype for Elsa Bloodstone is the bounce deck type, which focuses on repeatedly returning cards to the player's hand for continued play. With this play style, Elsa Bloodstone can consistently grant a +3 Power boost to low-cost cards throughout the match, as the player continuously replenishes each location. This archetype pairs well with cards like Kitty Pryde, Bishop, and The Collector, offering great synergy with Elsa Bloodstone.
Additionally, Elsa Bloodstone proves valuable in Marvel Snap's zoo deck archetype, which emphasizes populating the field with low-cost cards that benefit from her Power-boost ability. Players can utilize cards such as Squirrel Girl or Mysterio to rapidly fill multiple locations, followed by playing cards like Ka-Zar or Blue Marvel to further enhance the Power of these cards. Another effective strategy involves playing Nightcrawler to occupy a location while Elsa Bloodstone is on the field, strengthening its Power, and then repositioning the card to a more advantageous location. This not only optimizes Elsa Bloodstone's boost, but also creates space for another card to fill and benefit from her abilities.
The Cons of Using Marvel Snap's Elsa Bloodstone
Despite her apparent strengths, Elsa Bloodstone can easily be countered in a few ways. One major threat that players using Elsa Bloodstone should be wary of is the inclusion of Killmonger in their opponent's deck. Killmonger can disrupt the setup of the best Elsa Bloodstone decks and eliminate any chance of filling a location with low-cost cards to boost her power. While Killmonger cannot directly defeat Elsa Bloodstone, he can destroy the 1-Cost Marvel Snap cards that players typically use to support her, such as Squirrel Girl, Nightcrawler, and Kitty Pryde.
Additionally, the newest addition to the Bloodstone season, Man-Thing, can pose a challenge for Elsa Bloodstone decks. His ability reduces the power of all 1, 2, and 3-Cost cards at a location by -2. Since Elsa Bloodstone decks heavily rely on low-cost cards, this ability can be devastating unless players have Luke Cage to prevent their power from being reduced. Similarly, Mobius M. Mobius can disrupt bounce decks that feature Elsa Bloodstone. His ability prevents the opponent's cards from having their cost reduced, which is a significant aspect of utilizing Beast in a bounce deck.
