Doja Cat strongly disapproves of her fans unofficially naming themselves "Kittenz." In a now-deleted Threads post on Sunday, July 23, the 27-year-old artist expressed her opinion, saying, "My fans do not label themselves with derogatory terms. If you refer to yourself as a 'kitten' or 'kittenz,' it suggests that you should prioritize responsibilities such as getting a job and assisting your parents with household obligations."

In a different thread that has been deleted since, Doja explained that although she might have previously given her fans the nickname "Kittenz," she did this during her teenage years when she struggled with alcoholism.

When a user asked the Grammy winner what they should change their name to since she didn't like the term "kitten," Doja advised them to delete their entire account and reconsider everything, emphasizing that it's never too late.

Doja called out another fan account on the same day for using her real name, Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, as their Threads username. She tweeted, "It's creepy as f—k that you're using my government name as your username."

When a third fan reached out to Doja on Sunday, asking her to say "I do love you guys" as she usually does to her fans, Doja responded sarcastically, saying, "I don't say that because I don't even know you all."

The backlash from certain fans regarding the comments was apparent, as one Threads user made note of not knowing her. However, it can't be denied that we, the supportive fans, have been there for her during both good and bad times. It's important to remember that her success wouldn't have been possible without us.

Several fan pages dedicated to Doja, the singer of "Kiss Me More," deactivated their social media accounts following a conflict with fans. This social media controversy occurred shortly after Doja expressed her anticipation for her upcoming tour, expressing love and gratitude towards her fans in a tweet on July 20.

Doja is no stranger to making headlines on social media. Last year, she was involved in another social media feud when she criticized actor Noah Schnapp for sharing their private DMs. In those messages, they had discussed her crush on his Stranger Things costar Joseph Quinn.

Doja expressed her frustration in a July 2022 Instagram Live video, saying, "That's like borderline snake s--t. That's like weasel s--t. I'm not saying that's who he is entirely. I wouldn't assume that. Maybe he's just a complete snake. But I didn't see him that way. I assumed he would handle it maturely, but he went and shared information that I wasn't comfortable with him sharing."

Schnapp, who is 18 years old, later clarified that he had apologized and stated that there were no negative emotions between him and Doja. However, Doja reportedly experienced a loss of over 200,000 Instagram followers as a result of the feud with Schnapp, causing her follower count to decrease from 24.34 million to 24.14 million.
