Diplo's Epic Response After NFL Jumbotron Mistakenly Labels Him as the 'Man who Survived Burning Man'

Diplo shuts down the NFL Jumbotron's hilarious misidentification by responding to being labeled as the guy who escaped Burning Man at a Las Vegas Raiders game

Diplo was displeased with the Jumbotron operator at Allegiant Stadium following his attendance at a Las Vegas Raiders football game.

During the team's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, September 24, Diplo, aged 44, was recognized in the crowd. However, a mischievous individual in the stadium deemed him as the "Guy Who Escaped Burning Man" on the large screen display.

The DJ posted a video on Instagram on September 28, captioned "I also make music." In the video, Diplo, whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz, added text saying, "We need to talk to whoever is in charge of the Raiders Jumbotron." Diplo's famous friends found it funny and commented on the post. Drew Taggart from the Chainsmokers wrote, "Hahah let it be known," while Paris Hilton used three crying laughing emojis.

Earlier this month, Diplo was trapped at Burning Man, along with numerous other festival-goers, due to severe weather conditions that resulted in heavy flooding across the desert landscape where the annual event takes place. To ensure safety, Nevada officials issued a shelter-in-place advisory, as the incessant rain left the area saturated and unsuitable for vehicular travel.

While some Burners endured the storm and the dwindling of their food supplies, Diplo found a solution by hitching a ride out of Burning Man with Chris Rock. Diplo documented their experience in an Instagram video shared on September 2, where he captioned, "A fan offered Chris Rock and me a ride out of Burning Man in the back of a pickup truck. After trudging through six miles of mud, all Chris could think about was getting a cold brew."

According to Diplo, he spent hours legitimately walking on the side of the road, thumbing for a ride. He had the urgency to leave the festival early as he had to make it to his own concert in Washington, D.C. Surprisingly, he managed to arrive on time.

"Despite skeptics doubting that we could trek 6 miles through muddy terrain at Burning Man, we proved them wrong," he shared in a subsequent social media update, accompanied by a photo of himself seated aboard a private plane. "Similarly, nobody had faith in our ability to reach Washington D.C. for tonight's performance. However, with divine intervention, we made it happen."

Other celebrities, on the other hand, stayed until the official conclusion of the festival. Danica Patrick described the event as an "unforgettable experience" in a post on Instagram she uploaded after returning home. "Well... nothing has technically burned yet because of the rain, but it was truly memorable!!" Patrick, who is 41 years old, wrote on September 4. "It is the people and the purpose that truly make it special. The rain and mud cannot dampen the spirit of BM!"
