Derek Hough's Jaw-Dropping Elimination on 'Dancing With the Stars' Latin Night Leaves Viewers in Awe! Discover Which Duo Bid Farewell

Cohosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough donned red outfits to honor Latin Night on Tuesday, October 3. Julianne, 35, excitedly exclaimed, "Latin night is going to be incredibly hot!" at the start of the episode.

Although a few pairs thrived during the themed evening, judge Carrie Anna Inaba praised social media personality Lele Pons, stating that she "lit up the stage" and "brought the house down." However, some duos faced challenges and found it difficult to shine.

Mauricio Umansky and Emma Slater received the lowest score of the night after all the performances. Harry Jowsey and Rylee Arnold, Barry Williams and Peta Murgatroyd, and Adrian Peterson and Britt Stewart all had the same second lowest score for Latin Night.

After counting the viewers' votes, Peterson, 38, and Stewart, 34, along with Jamie Lynn Spears and Alan Bersten ended up in the bottom two. Ultimately, Spears, 32, and Bersten, 29, were eliminated from the competition.

After the results were revealed, Spears expressed his satisfaction with the experience, specifically pointing out the fact that he had achieved something he never imagined he would do in his entire life.

When questioned about his thoughts on the elimination, Derek, aged 38, confided in Ribeiro, aged 52, that he had not anticipated it. "To be honest, it's really unexpected. Jamie Lynn, you were absolutely phenomenal. You should truly be proud of your accomplishments here," he expressed. "Wow, this is truly surprising. Jamie, we will definitely miss you."

Meanwhile, some other contestants made a noteworthy jump from the middle of the pack to the top of the leaderboard. Actress Xochitl Gomez and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy managed to score 24 points, a significant improvement from their previous score of 18 during the premiere episode.

After witnessing their impressive performance, judge Inaba, aged 55, praised Gomez, aged 17, saying, "Salsa is definitely your superpower, my friend. I caught a glimpse of Rita Moreno in your dance."

Derek agreed wholeheartedly. "Your spins are truly amazing. That was exceptional," he commended.

In addition, the judges lauded Charity Lawson for delivering an outstanding performance even without her partner Artem Chigvintsev. The former Bachelorette, 27, showcased her skills in the Cha-Cha with temporary partner Ezra Sosa. The lineup change was announced by the official Instagram page of Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday, prior to the episode.

Due to COVID, Artem will not be able to dance tonight. We wish him a speedy recovery! In a photo captioned by the account, Charity, 27, and Ezra, 22, were seen. At the start of Latin Night, Ribeiro confirmed that Charity had tested negative for COVID-19 and was prepared for the show tonight.

This episode marked Sosa's first appearance as a professional competitor. He became a part of the ABC competition series as a troupe dancer for season 30 in 2021. Chigvintsev, 41, expressed his support for his temporary replacement through Instagram on Tuesday.

“Ezra quickly took charge and has been putting in tremendous effort alongside Charity in these past few days, so let's show them our full support and affection," he wrote alongside a video where he clarifies the reason for his absence from the episode. Derek Hough Floored By ‘Shocker’ Elimination on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Latin Night: See Which Duo Went Home

The competition in season 32 of Dancing With the Stars is intensifying, and this week's elimination has left judge Derek Hough in shock.

In celebration of Latin Night on Tuesday, October 3, cohosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough both donned red attire. Setting the tone for the evening, Julianne, 35, playfully remarked, "Latin night is going to sizzle."

Some duos excelled during the theme night, with judge Carrie Anna Inaba praising social media personality Lele Pons for her exceptional performance, saying she ignited the stage and left a lasting impression. However, there were others who faced difficulties.

By the end of all the performances, Mauricio Umansky and his partner Emma Slater received the lowest score of the night. Harry Jowsey and Rylee Arnold, Barry Williams and Peta Murgatroyd, as well as Adrian Peterson and Britt Stewart all shared a tied score for the second lowest score on Latin Night.

Peterson, 38, and Stewart, 34, along with Jamie Lynn Spears and Alan Bersten, landed in the bottom two following the tally of viewers' votes. In the end, Spears, 32, and Bersten, 29, were eliminated from the competition.

In response to the announcement, Spears acknowledged the positive aspects of her experience, highlighting the opportunity to engage in something she had never envisioned doing in her entire life.

When asked about the elimination, Derek, 38, expressed his surprise to Ribeiro, 52, stating that he had not anticipated it. "Honestly, it's quite unexpected. Jamie Lynn, you were truly amazing. You should be really proud of your performance here," he said. "Wow, it's a shocker, honestly. Jamie, we're really going to miss you."

In the meantime, other contestants experienced a significant rise in the leaderboard rankings. Actress Xochitl Gomez and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy received a score of 24, a notable improvement from their previous score of 18 during the premiere episode.

"Salsa is undeniably your superpower, my friend," complemented Inaba, who was 55 years old, to the 17-year-old Gomez. "There was a glimpse of Rita Moreno's brilliance in your performance."

Derek, in agreement, echoed the sentiment by stating, "Your spins are truly extraordinary. That was an exceptional display of talent."

Despite not having her partner Artem Chigvintsev by her side, Charity Lawson was commended by the judges for bringing her A-game. In place of Artem, the former Bachelorette, 27, performed the Cha-Cha with temporary partner Ezra Sosa. The official Instagram page of Dancing With the Stars announced the lineup change on Tuesday before the episode aired.

“Artem will not be dancing tonight due to COVID. Wishing him a quick recovery! ️," the account captioned a photo of Charity, 27, and Ezra, 22. At the start of Latin Night, Ribeiro mentioned that Charity had tested negative for COVID-19 and was ready for the show that night.

Sosa made his professional debut as a competitor on the ABC competition series in season 30 of 2021. Chigvintsev, 41, expressed his support for Sosa, who temporarily filled in for him, through an Instagram post on Tuesday.

"Ezra has stepped up admirably and he and Charity have been putting in a lot of effort these past few days. Please show them your love and support," he wrote as a caption to a video where he explained his absence from the episode.
