Shannen Doherty is refuting allegations that her estranged husband Kurt Iswarienko informed her of an affair before her brain tumor was diagnosed. In response to a TMZ article released on December 12, the 52-year-old actress took to Instagram to address the claims. She expressed on the caption, "Let’s Be Clear, the truth matters. I just received a disturbing phone call that @tmz_tv was going to run a story about me."
Per TMZ, sources close to Iswarienko, 49, disclosed that the former couple had been living apart for two years before Doherty's brain tumor surgery in January. Insiders also claimed that Iswarienko informed Doherty about his new relationship in early January, just a few days before she had the MRI that revealed her brain tumor.
Doherty rejected the timeline and the suggestion of her having an "open marriage" with Iswarienko as an "absolute lie" in her Instagram post. She promised to discuss the marriage and affair in more detail on @letsbeclearpod. She also called out @tmz_tv to conduct better research and warned the "friends/girlfriend" behind the story that spreading lies will not take them anywhere. #thetruthmatters
Holly Marie Combs, Doherty's former Charmed costar, expressed her support in the comments section saying, "@tmz_tv you should tell your source Shannen has never deleted a text in her life. Or theirs. #receipts."

Doherty first opened up about Iswarienko’s alleged infidelity during the inaugural episode of her “Let’s Be Clear” podcast earlier this month.
"I entered the surgery early in the morning, having just discovered that my marriage was effectively ending, as my husband had been involved in a two-year affair," the actress revealed. Doherty stated that Iswarienko had wanted to be with her during the surgery, but she asked him to leave.
She expressed feeling deeply unloved by her partner of 14 years, whom she loved wholeheartedly, and struggling to decide on getting a divorce while seeking the truth. In April, Doherty filed for divorce from Iswarienko after 11 years of marriage, with her spokesperson stating that it was the last thing she wanted but she felt it was her only choice.
In her inaugural podcast episode, Doherty confessed that she is "horrified that I can’t keep a relationship together." (She was previously married to Ashley Hamilton from 1993 to 1994 and Rick Salomon from 2002 to 2003.) Nevertheless, this time around, she's not being too hard on herself.

“I believe this one is on him,” she said. “I’ve been through three failed marriages, but I still have faith in love. … I also acknowledge my role in the end of our marriage – well, actually I take that back. What I mean is, I don’t accept blame for the end of our marriage, but I do acknowledge my part in some of the challenges we faced. I take responsibility not only for my behavior, but also for the impact of cancer on our marriage and on him in our second go-around.”
Doherty received her initial breast cancer diagnosis in 2015. Following a two-year period of undergoing chemotherapy, the former Beverly Hills, 90210 actress announced she was in remission. However, in 2020, her cancer returned, and Doherty disclosed that she had been diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Following the previous metastasis of her cancer to her brain, she recently revealed that it has also spread to her bones.
