Deacon Phillippe Adorably Styles Reese Witherspoon's Hair on the Golden Globes Red Carpet

Reese Witherspoon's personal stylist at the 2024 Golden Globes turned out to be her own son. Prior to posing for a red carpet photo, 20-year-old Deacon Phillippe was seen tenderly fixing his mother's hair in an adorable video.

At the awards show, the 47-year-old actress brought her oldest son as her guest, marking his Golden Globes debut. Walking the red carpet with Witherspoon, Phillippe shared some advice his experienced mom had given him for the evening.

“There are two important things,” he started in an interview during Variety and Entertainment Tonight’s official red carpet pre-show on Sunday, January 7. “Gum, hand sanitizer, and be kind to everyone.”

Philippe joked that he's "following" his mom's lead for the evening after being asked if he has a curfew. "She's the party animal, and I'm just trying to keep up," he said as Witherspoon laughed.

Witherspoon looked stunning in a strapless black Monique Lhuillier gown with a unique asymmetrical blush-colored top and matching black Jimmy Choo heels. Her outfit was accented by jewelry from Tiffany & Co., including a diamond choker necklace, earrings, and a bracelet. Meanwhile, Phillippe looked dashing in a black tuxedo.

The actress attended the event to show her support for The Morning Show, which was nominated for two awards. Unfortunately, the show did not win in either category. Additionally, Witherspoon was also backing Daisy Jones and The Six, a project on which she served as an executive producer. Although the music drama had three nominations, it did not win any trophies.

The evening marked Witherspoon's debut at an awards ceremony since her split from Jim Toth in March 2023, following a marriage of nearly 12 years. Prior to her marriage to 53-year-old Toth, Witherspoon was also married to Ryan Phillippe for seven years, with whom she shares children Deacon and 24-year-old Ava. (Witherspoon is also the mother of 11-year-old son Tennessee, whom she shares with Toth.)

Before the Sunday event, Witherspoon and Deacon were seen at the Vanity Fair pre-Golden Globes party in Los Angeles on January 6. Witherspoon wore a shimmering red Monique Lhuillier gown with matching heels and a black jacket, while Deacon sported a navy blue suit with a white shirt. Deacon recently made his acting debut in season 3 of Netflix’s Never Have I Ever, a series cocreated by Witherspoon’s friend Mindy Kaling, which follows the story of a 15-year-old Indian-American girl dealing with the loss of her father and the challenges of high school.

“We were in the midst of casting for the season when we came across a role that we felt would be a perfect fit for Deacon,” Kaling, 44, revealed to Variety in August 2022. She mentioned that Witherspoon had previously mentioned Deacon's interest in pursuing acting. “He’s undeniably talented and incredibly good-looking, and we just knew he would be a great fit. He was also thrilled to be a part of it.”
