At the Golden Globe Awards, Margot Robbie paid tribute to the 1977 "Superstar Barbie" by donning a hot-pink evening gown and glittering ruffle boa, custom-designed by Armani Privé. The actress, nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, complemented her look with pink and white diamond jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz and pink satin Manolo Blahnik pumps.
The original Superstar Barbie, described by Mattel as ready to dance the night away, wore one of her glitziest looks from the era, featuring "diamond" jewelry that sparkles under the disco lights and matching heels to complete her vibrant look, according to the toymaker's website. Recently reissued, this vintage doll has made a comeback with its dazzling appeal. On the red carpet, Robbie joked with pre-show presenter Marc Malkin about her decision to wear pink, saying, "I just woke up and I thought this maybe this would be appropriate."

This unique approach to dressing has been affectionately termed "method dressing" by fans.
Robbie donned Schiaparelli couture as a modern homage to the "Solo in the Spotlight" Barbie at the Los Angeles premiere, followed by a custom Vivienne Westwood look inspired by the vintage "Enchanted Evening" Barbie for the London premiere, and a Moschino creation channeling "Sparkling Pink" Barbie for a press conference in Seoul, South Korea.
With nine Golden Globe nominations, "Barbie" received more than any other movie this year, and ended the evening with two wins, including the inaugural award for cinematic and box office achievement. The ballroom at the Beverly Hilton hotel was lit up in pink to celebrate the win. Robbie, who also co-produced the movie, dedicated the award to "every single person on the planet who dressed up and went to the greatest place on earth - movie theaters."
